Requirements
  • Three to five years of relevant engineering work experience.
  • A two-year associate degree in engineering or a related field of study, or equivalent years of job experience.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer and phone.
  • Ability to perform sedentary work, repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions, close visual-acuity tasks, and occasional mobility for in-person meetings and office tasks.
Responsibilities
  • Develop new controls product designs and redesigns in coordination with sales, marketing, service, and manufacturing, ensuring products meet required control points of operation and design intent.
  • Identify controls strategies for product applications and review, clarify, and validate deliverables for internal and external customers.
  • Develop bills of materials, complete IAN, and communicate translation requirements for new or changed designs.
  • Support or manage the transition from design into production, including testing and training for new or changed designs, and evaluate equipment and facility capabilities when assessing design cost effectiveness.
  • Identify product defects and assist with product quality improvements through hardware and software design or functionality changes.
  • Participate in value engineering projects to improve designs and processes.
  • Gather information on competitive product offerings and assess the strengths and weaknesses of company products versus competitors.
  • Assist at job sites with installation or design problems and resolve the situation.
  • Provide technical support by phone and email to internal and external customers, including product selection and application support.
  • Provide content for developing and updating product literature.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation on design changes and requests.
  • Communicate solutions for unique applications, including design and special pricing.
  • Organize and present internal and external training seminars.
  • Provide basic to moderately complex technical and application expertise for related control products.
  • Create new procedures and processes and identify changes needed in current procedures.
  • Support or manage prototyping and testing of new designs, interpret test results, and set up and run equipment in-house when required.
  • Collaborate with the shop floor, identify and prioritize opportunities, and implement short- and long-term corrective actions.
  • Review and evaluate returned goods, determine root causes of failures, and disposition materials.
  • Provide mentoring, training, and indirect supervision of team members, and may have direct reports.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams as the Controls Engineering subject-matter-expert representative.
  • Evaluate material selection, perform cost analysis, and assess vendors as required for new designs.
  • Review the selection and specification of purchased component parts with purchasing personnel.
