Requirements
  • 2–3 years of experience in product management or a closely adjacent role, such as product engineering, solutions engineering, implementation product management, or technical program management, in a business-to-business software-as-a-service environment.
  • Habitual, fluent use of artificial intelligence tools for drafting communications, investigating problems, synthesizing information, and reducing repetitive effort, with well-developed judgment about where artificial intelligence helps and where it falls short.
  • Strong user-experience instincts and the ability to simplify complex, multi-step processes involving many stakeholders and consequential outcomes.
  • Comfort working with engineering teams building artificial-intelligence-powered products, including understanding how to design features that build trust in artificial-intelligence outputs, evaluate those outputs, and preserve appropriate human oversight.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with real users, understand operational pain, and translate findings into clear product decisions.
  • Ability to communicate product rationale clearly in specifications, Slack, and discussions with skeptical users.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, execute quickly, document decisions, and involve the appropriate people at the appropriate time.
Responsibilities
  • Own Herald's placement application, the primary workspace brokers use to manage commercial submissions end to end.
  • Translate broker workflows into product decisions and ship features that reduce manual effort in the insurance placement process.
  • Work directly with users and partner closely with engineering teams to ship product improvements.
  • Use artificial intelligence tools in day-to-day work and identify where artificial intelligence and agentic workflows can reduce coordination overhead, surface relevant information, and allow brokers to focus on work requiring judgment.
  • Own carrier-related work when needed to bring new markets or capabilities into the platform.
  • Own the Placement System for managing commercial submissions from intake through bind, including application intake and form management, market outreach, quote review and comparison, and artificial-intelligence-assisted coordination.
  • Improve document-extraction accuracy and coverage for prefill and data-capture flows.
  • Expand agentic capabilities by defining where the platform should act autonomously, surface recommendations, or require a human in the loop.
  • Scope and launch new carrier integrations to unlock market access for users.
  • Improve monitoring and self-healing for the integration layer that feeds market data into the workspace.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in commercial insurance, insurtech, or a closely adjacent vertical, including familiarity with carrier-distribution dynamics and quoting, submission, and binding workflows.
  • Experience at a company building workflow automation, document-processing, or artificial-intelligence-assisted tools for enterprise users.
  • Experience designing or scoping artificial-intelligence-assisted or agentic workflows, including evaluating artificial-intelligence outputs in operational contexts and keeping humans appropriately in the loop.
  • Familiarity with representational state transfer application programming interfaces, including reading API documentation, understanding technical feasibility, and discussing integration design with engineers.
  • Startup experience at a Series A–C company, including operating with lean support structures and building processes where none exist.

Herald offers a digital infrastructure platform for the commercial insurance market. It provides a single API through which insurance companies and their partners can quote and bind policies from more than sixty carriers, reducing the time to market for new products. The API comes with extensive documentation and support, helping clients integrate quickly and focus on improving customer experiences. Herald also helps clients connect to digital-distribution sources and add new partners without long implementation efforts, offering insights into the distribution ecosystem. Revenue comes from charging clients for API access and related services. Unlike providers that sell standalone workflow solutions, Herald supplies the infrastructure that carriers and partners use to deliver insurance experiences to customers. Overall, Herald’s goal is to simplify multi-carrier integration, enable embedded insurance experiences, and expand digital distribution in the commercial insurance space.
