Greene King loyalty programme reaches two million customers.

Greene King loyalty programme reaches two million customers. August 26, 2026 Greene King has reached two million customers registered with its loyalty and rewards programme less than a year after launching its integrated app. The milestone marks the next stage in the pub company's loyalty strategy, with Greene King now introducing 'Missions', which will allow customers to complete set targets in order to unlock rewards. The Greene King app combines its loyalty programme with pub search, bookings, ordering and payment functionality alongside exclusive offers and rewards. During the football season, customers can also access a 10% matchday discount during selected Premier League and Championship fixtures shown across participating Greene King pubs. The app operates across Greene King's 1,600 managed pubs and is designed to reduce queuing while giving customers access to menus, booking options and personalised rewards from one platform. Greene King said summer sporting events and payday promotions have contributed to increased registrations and awareness of the programme. Clair Preston-Beer, Chief Commercial and Digital Officer at Greene King, said: "This is an exciting time as we see our customers continue to enjoy the benefits of our app, loyalty and rewards. "The summer of sport and pay day weekend offers have driven more sign-ups and more awareness, and customers are loving the rewards and offers which they can unlock. "Thanks to insight into customer behaviour, we have a greater understanding on how we can connect and reward their loyalty with our pubs and brands. "Having an integrated app allows customers to easily browse menus and book drinks, dining and sports, and this is a further evolution with options to drive loyalty through exclusive rewards and offers." Other features within the app include Pub Finder, allowing users to search for nearby Greene King venues and filter them according to features including beer gardens, children's play areas and dog-friendly facilities. New customers can also access Spin to Win, giving registered users the opportunity to win rewards including a main course, dessert or pint. Interactive games include Pub Match, which enables customers to compete on leaderboards for potential vouchers, with transactions providing additional opportunities to play. Score King allows customers to predict Premier League results and earn rewards for correct score predictions. The Order & Pay function enables customers to view menus and order directly from their table using saved card details, Apple Pay or Google Pay, alongside live waiting-time information. The introduction of Missions will further develop Greene King's use of the app to personalise rewards and encourage engagement across its pub estate. Greene King launches new Cornerstone Pubs brand. 21-Aug-2026 Last updated on 21-Aug-2026 at 12:05 GMT Greene King is bringing a collection of its value and carvery pubs together under a new soft brand within its managed estate. Cornerstone Pubs will launch from 26 August and will sit within Greene King's managed pubs portfolio. Join our whatsapp channel: the Morning round-up. Get the biggest pub trade stories straight to your phone. Listen to our one-minute daily news briefing and receive breaking news, exclusives and sector updates throughout the day. Remember to turn notifications on in the top right corner! The group said the new proposition would focus on "everyday great value" in community focused pubs, while allowing individual sites to retain their existing character and local feel. The move brings together pubs that previously sat within Greene King's value and carvery formats. Value led offer. Clair Preston Beer, chief digital and commercial officer at Greene King, told the Morning Advertiser (MA): "We continue to invest in our core estate and set our pubs up for long term success with a clear focus on our customers. "Cornerstone Pubs helps to strengthen our value led offering in local communities across the country, bringing together our existing value and carvery formats to enhance customer experience and drive operational excellence." Each pub will continue to be run by its existing team and remain connected to its local community. Over time, some sites may introduce further changes, including menu updates, entertainment or refreshed branding. Estate strategy. The move comes as Greene King continues to reshape its estate. Earlier this month, the pubco confirmed it was reviewing around 65 pubs for potential sale, following previous plans to convert or sell around 300 managed sites as part of a wider estate strategy. At the time, Greene King said funds raised from disposals would be reinvested into its core estate, while some sites would move into its Pub Partners estate through leased, tenanted or franchise models. The launch comes as operators continue to segment pub estates around clearer customer occasions, including accommodation, food, sport, community and experience led visits. Lumina Intelligence's UK Pub & Bar Market Report 2026 said operators were increasingly shaping estates around more defined missions as they look to drive frequency and protect spend. It also follows a period of activity across Greene King's wider portfolio. The group reported that applications to run its Pub Partners sites were up 26% year on year in the first half of 2026, reaching a record 1,449 applications. The pubco also said occupancy across its Pub Partners estate stood at 97%, while it had invested almost £10m in upgrades and refurbishments during the first half, with a further £17m planned by the end of the year.

Greene King lines up 65 pubs for sale under Project Portico.

Greene King lines up 65 pubs for sale under Project Portico. Greene King has put around 65 pubs on the market as part of a fresh phase of the estate review it announced earlier this year, industry publication Propel first reported. The pubs, which are predominantly "wet-led" venues focused on drinks sales rather than food, are being brought to market collectively under the internal codename Project Portico. Sapient Corporate Finance is understood to be advising the brewer and pub operator on the disposal. According to reports, prospective buyers will have the option to acquire the entire portfolio in one transaction, take on a smaller cluster of sites, or bid for individual pubs. Greene King has not published a list of the pubs involved, and the company has stressed that no closures have been announced as a result of the process - meaning any venues that change hands are expected to continue trading under new ownership. A Greene King spokesperson said: "As part of our pub estate strategy announced earlier this year, we identified a number of pubs for potential sale in the medium term. As a result, we are reviewing each pub to determine the most appropriate route to market, which may involve an open sales process or a targeted off-market approach. In either case, prospective purchasers may seek to acquire individual or multiple sites." Part of a wider estate strategy The Project Portico listing builds on plans Greene King set out in March, when the group identified around 300 managed pubs it judged were no longer suited to their current operating model. Roughly half of those sites are being transitioned into leased, tenanted or franchised venues within the company's Pub Partners network, while the remainder - around 150 pubs - were earmarked for potential sale over the medium term. Greene King has said proceeds from any completed sales will be reinvested into strengthening its core managed estate rather than extracted from the business. The group has already carried out smaller disposals during 2026 ahead of the latest listing. In April, it appointed Savills to market 13 freehold pubs and hotels comprising some 420 bedrooms between them, including properties such as Ye Olde Talbot in Worcester, the Cromwell Lodge Hotel in Banbury and the Bear Hotel in Havant. A further ten freehold managed pubs were brought to market through agent AG&G in May, with a combined asking price of roughly £9.4 million for eight of the sites and offers invited for the remaining two. Trading performance The disposal programme comes despite a period of improved trading for the group. Greene King's most recent financial results showed revenue up 3.6% year on year to £2.539 billion, with adjusted operating profit rising 9.8% to £217.4 million. Founded in 1799, Greene King operates a total estate of around 2,500 pubs, including approximately 1,000 leased, tenanted and franchised sites, making it one of the UK's largest pub operators.

Greene King reviews pubs for potential sale, names new CTO.

Greene King reviews pubs for potential sale, names new CTO. The pub group has raised the For Sale on 65 pubs, which could be sold individually or alongside multiple sites Greene King has reportedly identified 65 pubs which it is seeking to offload as part of its previously announced strategy to reduce its 2,600-strong pub estate by up to 150 outposts. After outlining its plan to reduce its pub estate in March, the pub group is understood to have identified 65 outlets for potential sale, either as part of a package or as individual sites. A Greene King spokesperson said: "As part of its pub estate strategy announced earlier this year, Hotel Cateys identified a number of pubs for potential sale in the medium term. "As a result, we are reviewing each pub to determine the most appropriate route to market, which may involve an open sales process or a targeted off-market approach. In either case, prospective purchasers may seek to acquire individual or multiple sites." The move comes after Greene King identified 300 pubs in its current portfolio which no longer aligned with its property strategy. The pub group will convert around half of these locations to leased and tenanted or franchise venues, with the remainder set to be sold in the medium term. This marks the first foray into Greene King offloading pubs since its strategy shake-up was first announced. The move comes alongside the hospitality firm's appointment of Andrew Plunkett, formerly of Easyjet, as its new chief data and technology officer. In a LinkedIn post about his new role, Plunkett said: "Greene King runs on the hard work and pride of people who care deeply about their pubs and their guests. That's something worth protecting: it's part of the fabric of British life, and it deserves to be treated that way. "At the same time, I'm excited about what's possible. There's real potential to use technology, data and AI to strengthen every part of the business, making pubs easier to run, decisions better informed and guest experiences more personal, all while staying true to what makes Greene King, Greene King."
