  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of combined experience across data analytics or information technology and regulatory compliance, audit, or testing, including hands-on experience with scripting and automation.
  • Banking or financial services experience.
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory testing concepts and data and technology tools, with the ability to translate between them.
  • Hands-on scripting experience, including SQL and Python, to build, automate, and maintain data-driven tests.
  • Practical experience applying artificial intelligence tools, including large language models or machine-learning and generative-AI tools, to analyze data, generate or refine code and test logic, or increase efficiency, with understanding of their limitations and the need for human validation.
  • Working knowledge of core, loan, and deposit systems and the data they produce.
  • Proficiency working with relational databases and large data sets.
  • Understanding of consumer and deposit banking regulations and how regulatory requirements translate into testable controls.
  • Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, issue identification, and proactive problem resolution.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and overall computer proficiency with Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate and work cross-functionally, influence without authority, and remain organized, accurate, and attentive to detail.
  • Ability to pass a background and credit check.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with compliance testing staff to translate regulatory obligations, control requirements, and manual test steps into automated, data-driven tests.
  • Write, maintain, and optimize scripts and apply AI-enabled tools to design, build, and execute automated compliance tests that pull directly from core, loan, deposit, and ancillary source systems.
  • Use AI to interpret regulatory requirements, generate and refine test logic and code, analyze large data populations, and surface exceptions and anomalies for analyst review.
  • Serve as the single point of contact between Compliance Testing and enterprise Data and IT teams; coordinate data access, source-system mapping, data dictionaries, and secure data extracts.
  • Identify authoritative data sources for each test, document data lineage, and confirm the completeness and accuracy of testing populations.
  • Validate automated and AI-generated test logic and results against expected outcomes and manual samples; investigate and resolve discrepancies before results are relied upon, applying human oversight to AI output.
  • Document test logic, scripts, AI prompts and tools, data sources, assumptions, and procedures so automated tests are transparent, repeatable, and audit- and examination-ready.
  • Ensure AI and automation use aligns with model risk management, data governance, information security, and responsible-AI standards.
  • Recommend and help implement tools, platforms, and process improvements that expand automated and AI-enabled testing coverage across regulatory obligations.
  • Support the Director and Chief Compliance Officer during internal audits and federal and state regulatory examinations by explaining automation and AI testing methodology and producing supporting evidence.
  • Prepare periodic reporting on automation and AI coverage, test results, and metrics for senior leadership.
  • Support special projects as necessary.
  • Participate in required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering training, internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars or conferences.
  • Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience building AI-enabled or machine-learning workflows, including prompt engineering, model evaluation, or use of AI within a testing or audit setting.
  • Experience with data visualization or business intelligence tools, such as Power BI, and workflow or automation platforms.
  • Familiarity with GRC, compliance testing, or data governance platforms and with model risk management or responsible-AI frameworks.
  • Experience integrating or reconciling data across multiple systems, including post-acquisition or legacy environments.
  • A relevant data, analytics, or AI credential.

United Community Banks completes $2B Navitas sale, reshuffles $2.6B in securities to cut rate risk and boost yields

United Community Banks has completed a strategic balance sheet repositioning following the sale of Navitas Credit Corp. and NLFC Reinsurance Corp., which generated approximately $2.0 billion in proceeds on 1 September. The company reclassified $2.2 billion in held-to-maturity securities to available-for-sale and sold approximately $2.6 billion of lower-yielding investment securities with a weighted average yield of 2.20%. The proceeds are being redeployed into cash and short-duration securities yielding approximately 4.5%. United expects to recognise a pre-tax loss of approximately $300 million from the repositioning, partially offset by a $64 million pre-tax gain from the Navitas sale. Despite the third-quarter loss, the company expects positive net income for the nine months ending 30 September 2026. The company's common equity tier one ratio is projected to remain above 13% following these transactions.
