Rolls-Royce nears government subsidy deal for aircraft engines.

Rolls-Royce nears government subsidy deal for aircraft engines. October 24, 2026 ROLLS-ROYCE is nearing a deal for British government subsidies of up to £200 million ($267.9 million) to help fund the development of a new engine for short-haul aircraft, with an announcement possible as early as next week, the Financial Times reported on Friday. Funding of £100 million-£200 million would help Rolls-Royce develop and test a demonstrator version of its new UltraFan 30 engine, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter. The company had hoped to secure an initial government commitment for the project in the first half of the year. In July, Chief Executive Tufan Erginbilgic said if the government backed the project and Rolls-Royce's new engine gained a position on a narrowbody airframe, that would create 40,000 British jobs. Erginbilgic also confirmed Rolls-Royce held discussions with other governments, including Germany and the US, about support for the program. For the last 15 years, Rolls-Royce has been absent from the narrowbody market, which is much bigger than the widebody market it is currently focused on. The company has been developing the next-generation UltraFan with the aim of getting back in the narrowbody market.

Rolls-Royce nears government subsidy deal to develop short-haul plane engines.

Rolls-Royce nears government subsidy deal to develop short-haul plane engines. The car and aircraft engine manufacturer would use the $267m invested to develop its UltraFan 30 engine, designed for short-haul planes. The company's chief executive Tufan Erginbilgiç added this project could create 40,000 jobs. Published on 10/23/2026 at 06:00 am EDT MarketScreener.com Rolls-Royce is about to close a deal for UK government subsidies of up to £200m ($267.90m) to finance its UltraFan 30 engine on short-haul planes, the Financial Times revealed. The company may make a statement next week but has not confirmed the agreement yet. If it becomes effective, taxpayers could provide financial support for the development of this technology, which can be considered as a strategic, major evolution in the British aeronautics industry. Contributing to the UK's reindustrialization This investment matches UK PM Andy Burnham's ambition to reindustrialize the country and create thousands of new jobs, including in the automotive sector. Tufan Erginbilgiç, Rolls-Royce's chief executive, has insisted that this project could be a "once-in-a-generation opportunity" likely to generate 40,000 skilled jobs. Erginbilgiç already sought state aid in February, after unveiling plans to return up to £9bn to shareholders over the next three years. The car manufacturer had also previously received UK government funding for engine programmes, including in research and development. Rolls Royce reported good first-half 2026 results, with operating profit rising by 46% to £2.5bn, and lifted its full-year guidance to £4.7bn-£4.9bn for underlying operating profit. Rolls-Royce is expanding CorporateCare Enhanced maintenance services and coverage for business aviation customers. Rolls-Royce has announced additional CorporateCare Enhanced coverage and support benefits at the 2026 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas. Without increasing the programme's hourly rate, the updates include additional protection against minor foreign object damage, expanded coverage for eligible Pearl customers, nacelle painting services and simpler component returns. The enhancements aim to reduce unexpected costs, operational complexity and administrative workloads for business aviation customers. (PRESS RELEASE) LAS VEGAS, Nevada, United States, 20-Oct-2026 - /EuropaWire/ - Rolls-Royce (LSE: RR., ADR: RYCEY) has announced further enhancements to its CorporateCare(R) Enhanced maintenance programme at the 2026 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas, USA. The additional service and coverage benefits are intended to reduce unexpected expenditure, simplify operations and ease the administrative responsibilities of managing Rolls-Royce-powered business aircraft. The new benefits will be included in CorporateCare Enhanced without increasing the programme's hourly rate. The changes comprise: * Additional protection against minor Foreign Object Damage (FOD) when damage does not require immediate engine or nacelle removal and can be repaired on-wing or near-wing. * Free-of-charge Technical Variance (TV) documentation for both qualified and unqualified damage cases, excluding negligence. * Expanded Life-Limited Parts (LLP) coverage for time expiration, offering additional protection to eligible Pearl customers. * Access to nacelle painting services through the worldwide Rolls-Royce Authorized Service Center (ASC) network. * A simpler line-replaceable unit (LRU) core return process, with Rolls-Royce covering return shipping costs. * Planned administrative improvements, including pre-arranged shipping and return labels. * Broader maintenance and support coverage intended to provide greater operational certainty and protection against costs. Lindsey Gillen, VP Sales & Marketing, Rolls-Royce, said: Our customers told us where we could make CorporateCare Enhanced even more valuable, and we listened. We took that feedback into our business and turned it into meaningful additional coverage and simpler support. These enhancements address real operational needs, from unexpected minor damage to everyday maintenance and logistics. They reinforce what CorporateCare Enhanced is designed to deliver: greater certainty, less complexity and confidence that Rolls-Royce will be there when our customers need us." CorporateCare Enhanced is the company's comprehensive fixed-cost-per-flying-hour engine maintenance management programme for business aviation operators. It is standard for all new CorporateCare customers and can be added as an upgrade to eligible existing contracts. For the AE 3007 and Tay engines, the programme provides a range of additional services, including troubleshooting and the travel costs of mobile repair teams. For the Pearl(R) 15, Pearl 700, BR710 and BR725 engines, its coverage extends to maintenance of the entire powerplant, including the nacelle, engine build-up and thrust reverser; unit-related services; and erosion and corrosion affecting all engine and nacelle parts. Rolls-Royce says it is the leading supplier of business aviation engines, with more than 4,300 business aircraft in service powered by its engines. More than 3,000 aircraft are currently covered by CorporateCare, and approximately 86% of new deliveries of Rolls-Royce-powered business aircraft are enrolled in the programme. CorporateCare Enhanced is designed to deliver financial and operational advantages, including higher asset value and liquidity, less exposure to unanticipated maintenance expenditure, greater aircraft availability, reduced management responsibilities, full risk transfer, and priority access to the company's global service infrastructure and remote-site assistance.
