Responsibilities
  • Support development of new technologies, materials, processes, and engineering concepts; assist with engineering analysis, research, and technical problem-solving; participate in design and development projects from concept through evaluation; and work with engineers and cross-functional teams to investigate and solve technical challenges during the Advanced Engineering rotation.
  • Support the design and development of new tire products; assist with product specifications, design changes, data analysis, and performance evaluation; participate in development from initial concepts through prototype and testing phases; and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, testing, and other technical teams during the Tire Development rotation.
  • Support the design and development of tire molds and related tooling; assist with CAD modeling, drawings, design reviews, and engineering documentation; gain exposure to design for manufacturing and the relationship between tire design and manufacturing processes; and work with engineers and manufacturing partners to address design and production requirements during the Mold Design rotation.
  • Support laboratory and field testing of tire products and components; assist with test setup, data collection, analysis, and reporting; help evaluate tire performance against engineering requirements and specifications; and work alongside test engineers to investigate results and identify opportunities for improvement during the Tire Testing rotation.
  • Apply engineering principles to real-world product and process development projects.
  • Support engineering teams with analysis, design, testing, documentation, and problem-solving.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret engineering data.
  • Develop technical reports, presentations, drawings, and other engineering documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and cross-functional activities.

US launches labour review of Yokohama Mexico tire plant. 29 Sep 2026 Authorities "suspend liquidation of all entries of goods from the Yokohama facility until further notice" Washington - The US government has launched a formal review of alleged labour-rights violations at Yokohama Tire's plant in Coahuila, Mexico, and suspended liquidation of imports from the facility. The US Trade Representative (USTR) said 25 Sept it had invoked the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement's 'rapid response labour mechanism' (RRM) to determine whether workers were being denied rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining. The action follows a complaint filed in August by Mexican independent workers union Liga Sindical Obrera Mexicana (LSOM) and the International Lawyers Assisting Workers Network. (ERJ report) The petition alleged retaliation against workers for union activity, including "unequal treatment" of LSOM supporters, denial of plant access to LSOM representatives, irregularities ahead of a union representation vote and unlawful dismissals. It also alleged non-compliance with the rubber industry's sectoral collective bargaining agreement, known as the 'contrato ley'. Following an initial review, US authorities determined there was "sufficient, credible evidence of a denial of rights" to invoke the enforcement mechanism and requested that Mexico investigate the allegations. Mexico has 10 days to decide whether to conduct the review. Meanwhile, the US authority said it will "suspend liquidation of all entries of goods from the Yokohama facility until further notice". United States seeks Mexico's review of alleged denial of workers' rights at Yokohama Tire Manufacturing Mexico, S.A. de C.V. WASHINGTON - The Office of the United States Trade Representative has invoked the Rapid Response Labor Mechanism (RRM) in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) to review whether workers at Yokohama Tire Manufacturing Mexico, S.A. de C.V. (Yokohama), located in the state of Coahuila, Mexico, are being denied the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining. This follows the recent closure of the Yokohama tire manufacturing plant in Salem, Virginia and the layoff of nearly 600 American workers. The United States will suspend the liquidation of all entries of goods into this country from the Yokohama facility, which produces tires, until further notice.Today's action demonstrates the Trump administration's America First approach, which ensures its trade partners do not undermine worker protections to gain an unfair trade advantage or attract investment. The Secretary of Labor and United States Trade Representative co-chair the Interagency Labor Committee for Monitoring and Enforcement (ILC). On August 26, 2026, the ILC received an RRM petition from the Liga Sindical Obrera Mexicana (LSOM), a Mexican labor union, and the International Lawyers Assisting Workers Network (ILAW). The petition alleges that Yokohama is violating workers' rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining by retaliating against workers for engaging in union activity. These actions include engaging in unequal treatment against LSOM supporters, the denial of access to the plant for LSOM special delegates while granting unrestricted access to the representatives of a competing union, irregularities leading up to a Certificate of Representation vote, unlawful dismissals, and non-compliance with the sectoral collective bargaining agreement for the rubber manufacturing industry (known as the "contrato ley"). The ILC reviews RRM petitions that it receives, and the accompanying information, within 30 days. After conducting this review, the ILC determined that there is sufficient, credible evidence of a denial of rights enabling the good faith invocation of enforcement mechanisms. As a result, the United States Trade Representative has submitted a request to Mexico that Mexico review whether workers at Yokohama are being denied the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining. Mexico has 10 days to agree to conduct a review and, if it agrees, 45 days from today to complete the review. The Return to Dirt initiative organises driving excursions across diverse landscapes, ranging from icy lakes to wooded trails. Participants manoeuvre modified Polaris RZRs equipped with hand controls and outfitted with Yokohama's GEOLANDAR M/T G003 SxS tyres, ensuring reliable traction in challenging conditions. Professional off-road racer and Team Yokohama member Kristen Matlock attended a recent Return to Dirt gathering and described a profound personal impact. Carlson, Roczen & Holland headline Yokohama's off-road lineup for Labor Day weekend racing at Crandon International Raceway... Yokohama Tire's off-road team is making a Labor Day weekend pit stop at the "The Big House" in Crandon, Wisconsin, for the Championship Off-Road season event at the 57th running of the Polaris World Championships at Crandon International Raceway, Sept. 4-6, company officials stated in a press release. Yokohama is the Official Tire of Crandon International Raceway, the largest short-course off-road facility in the world. Yokohama is also a Championship Off-Road series supporting partner. Team Yokohama's lineup & standings. Team Yokohama members such as Andrew Carlson, Ken Roczen and Robb Holland will compete on various GEOLANDAR off-road tires at the race. Carlson is a multiple-time podium finisher at Crandon, and Roczen will be making his debut at the iconic venue after capturing the 2026 Supercross 450 Class Championship earlier this year. Holland is also making his Crandon debut, competing in the Pro Lite division behind the wheel of fellow Team Yokohama driver John Holtger's truck for his first short-course off-road race. Heading into the weekend, Team Yokohama's Nick Visser leads the Pro-Spec championship standings. With only a narrow lead over second place, the title fight is shaping up to be an intense battle through the closing rounds of the season, noted the release. "We've got a great team ready to take on the challenges at Crandon during short-course racing's most celebrated weekend," said Candace Cogan, Yokohama's director of product marketing. All told, 20-plus Yokohama-sponsored drivers will be competing on ADVAN tires across multiple divisions during the 104th running of the iconic "Race to the Clouds." Yokohama also returns as the exclusive tire supplier for the Pikes Peak GT4 Trophy by Yokohama for the ninth consecutive year. This year's GT4 division features entries from Porsche, BMW and Toyota - all are equipped with ADVAN A052 tires. Laura Hayes, who holds the Pikes Peak record for "Fastest Woman," returns in a Toyota Supra GT4 EVO2. "We're excited to return with another exceptionally strong lineup for this year's hill climb," said Patricia Wall, Yokohama's senior manager of motorsports. "After last year's weather-shortened race, our Team Yokohama drivers are eager to return and compete on the full-length legendary mountain course." Yokohama has had tremendous success on the mountain in recent years. Robin Shute has led the tiremaker to two overall "King of the Mountain" titles on ADVAN tires. Shute returns this year in his self-designed 2026 Sendycar, competing in the Unlimited Division (Super Unlimited Class) on ADVAN A005s featuring a special hill climb compound developed specifically by Yokohama for Pikes Peak. Wall said the all-new program was built with a singular focus: to secure Shute's fifth overall King of the Mountain title.
