Hisense A10 Pro and Ultra: the smartphone that doubles as an e-reader. Hisense has released a new line of unusual smartphones - the A10 Pro and A10 Ultra. These devices are aimed at those seeking a balance between comfortable reading and modern smartphone functionality. Technical specifications. Both smartphones share an identical foundation with a focus on text display quality. * E-Ink screen: 6.13 inches, 1648 x 824 resolution (300 PPI). * Support: 256 grayscale levels and 36 levels of front lighting. * Processor: 8-core Qualcomm QCM6690 (4 nm, up to 2.9 GHz). * T2000 TCON chip: A specialized controller for managing display updates and reducing system load. * Battery: 4000 mAh with 18W charging support. * Software: Android 16 with no strict restrictions on app installation. * Cameras: 48 MP main, 8 MP front. * Additional: NFC, IR blaster, Wi-Fi 6. A10 Ultra unique features. The Ultra model stands out with a detachable 4.96-inch LCD panel. It attaches to the back of the device using a magnetic ring and physical contacts. This allows the user to choose between a full-color interface or maximum battery efficiency on the E-Ink screen. Release date and pricing. The smartphones are already on sale in China. Prices vary based on memory configuration and model. Hisense A10 pricing table. | Model | Configuration | Price (USD) | Price (UAH) | | A10 Pro | 8/128 GB | $420 | 17 388 UAH | | A10 Pro | 12/512 GB | $520 | 21 528 UAH | | A10 Ultra | 8/128 GB | $480 | 19 872 UAH | | A10 Ultra | 12/512 GB | $520 | 21 528 UAH | In a world where smartphones have long competed over screen brightness and refresh rates, Hisense offers a step in the opposite direction - toward a place where your eyes get less tired and the battery lasts longer. The A10 Pro and A10 Ultra look like an attempt to restore the device to the role of a calm assistant rather than an endless source of notifications. It is particularly intriguing that the A10 Ultra literally lets you choose between two worlds: leave the color behind and immerse yourself in text, or snap it back on when you need a full-fledged smartphone. Samsung climbs back to No. 1 in Mini LED TVs, China's advantage narrows. 49 minutes ago August 30, 2026 Samsung has regained the top spot in the global Mini LED TVs market, marking a sharp turnaround after Chinese brands steadily eroded its lead over the past few years. According to Omdia, Samsung accounted for 28.2 percent of global shipments of Mini LED TVs in Q2 2026, ahead of TCL at 23.3 percent, Hisense at 17.2 percent, and LG Electronics at 12.4 percent. The bigger story is the shrinking gap between Korean and Chinese manufacturers. Samsung and LG together reached 40.6 percent, narrowly ahead of TCL and Hisense at 40.5 percent. Just a year ago, Chinese brands had a much stronger position in this segment. Samsung's recovery follows a major expansion of its Mini LED portfolio. The company introduced the M70H and M80H ranges in 2026, taking Mini LED technology into more affordable price segments instead of keeping it largely within premium TVs. In India, the new lineup starts at INR 42,990 and spans sizes from 43 to 100 inches. Mini LED adoption accelerated significantly in 2Q26, accounting for 13% of global TV shipments. Samsung and LG Electronics expanded their Mini LED line-ups, while lowering entry price points, increasing competition with TCL and Hisense, which had previously led the market. Discover more Tracking Corporate News Comparing Smartphone Plans Upgrading Android Devices Choosing New Phones The strategy appears to be working. TrendForce data indicates Samsung's Mini LED TV shipments jumped more than 200 percent year over year during the first half of 2026. Mini LED has also become a much larger battleground. Omdia says the technology represented 13 percent of global TV shipments in Q2, as brands push it beyond the traditional premium segment. Samsung still has plenty of work ahead, but the latest numbers show that China's cost advantage is no longer translating into the same level of market dominance. TCL held a 30.2 percent share of global Mini LED TV shipments in 1Q26. By 2Q26, Samsung had moved from third place to become the market leader, reaching a 28.2 percent shipment share. How to use the latest One UI 9 features on Galaxy S26 Ultra. 10 hours ago August 30, 2026 One UI 9 Beta 7 update brings several new features to the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. These features are designed to make the phone's camera, AI tools, calls, and Bixby assistant more useful. Here's how you can use the latest features. These are: 1.) My FanCam My FanCam is a new AI feature for videos. It helps you focus on a specific person or subject in a video. My FanCam can also change the video size and shape for different social media platforms. To use, open the Camera app and look for the My FanCam option. You can select a person or subject from a recorded video, and the phone will try to keep that subject in focus. This can be useful when recording sports, concerts, or other events where you want to follow one person. 2.) Now Brief Custom Cards Samsung has also added Custom Cards to Now Brief. These cards let you choose the information you want to see. Go to Settings >> Galaxy AI >> Now Brief >> Content to include. You can create cards for categories such as Weather, Health, and Videos. For example, a Weather card can show forecasts, rain chances, UV levels, humidity, wind, and other weather information. You can create up to three custom cards at a time. 3.) Now Brief Netflix Netflix recommendations are another new addition to Now Brief. After enabling Netflix, Now Brief can show a "Top picks for you" card with movie recommendations. This gives you an easier way to discover something to watch without opening the Netflix app first. Go to Settings > Galaxy AI > Now Brief > Content to include and turn on Netflix. After enabling it, Now Brief can show a "Top picks for you" card with movie recommendations. 4.) Call Brief Call Brief provides useful information while you are on a phone call. When relevant, it can show events and other information directly on the call screen. This means you may not need to leave the phone app and open another app to check related information. Call Brief uses Samsung's AI features and can be disabled whenever you want. To enable it, go to Settings >> Security and privacy >> More privacy settings >> Personal data intelligence and turn on Phone. 5.) Bixby New features Bixby gets three useful improvements in One UI 9 Beta 7. Gesture Wake-up lets you activate Bixby by holding the phone near your mouth and speaking. Samsung has also added 2x1, 2x2 and 4x2 Bixby widgets, offering quick voice and text input from the home screen. Open Bixby settings to enable Gesture Wake-up. To add a widget, long-press the home screen, tap Widgets, select Bixby, and choose a widget size. Is this the reason Samsung removed S Pen Air Gestures from Galaxy S26 and S25 Ultra? 16 hours ago August 30, 2026 Samsung's decision to remove Bluetooth-powered S Pen Air Gestures from the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Ultra has largely been presented as a product simplification. But a newly concluded patent dispute involving Samsung and Power2B puts an interesting piece of history back into the spotlight. Samsung and Power2B have agreed to dismiss their long-running US patent infringement lawsuit, bringing a case that began in 2020 to an end. The patent dispute centered on technology designed to recognize movements above a device and translate them into commands without requiring physical contact. Power2B had claimed Samsung used technology it had demonstrated to the company years earlier. Samsung and Power2B have now agreed to permanently dismiss the claims, although the financial and licensing terms remain undisclosed. That technology has an interesting connection to Samsung's past. The Galaxy S4 famously introduced Air Gesture, allowing users to wave a hand above the phone to perform actions such as changing tracks, scrolling through webpages and answering calls. Samsung itself promoted the feature as one of the standout innovations of the S4 era. However, it would be premature to say the Power2B lawsuit directly caused Samsung to remove S Pen Air Gestures. The legal dispute concerns touchless interaction technology, while the S25 Ultra and S26 Ultra's Air Gestures were powered by Bluetooth (BLE) in the S Pen. Samsung says the newer Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Ultra S Pen simply do not support BLE, meaning they cannot pair, charge or perform remote gestures. The Air Command menu remains available because it does not depend on Bluetooth connectivity. The company has also indicated that usage played a role in the decision. A report cited by Android Central says fewer than 1 percent of users relied on the Bluetooth-based S Pen features. So, is the Power2B case the reason Air Actions disappeared? There is no evidence to establish that connection, but the timing is notable. Samsung has now moved away from one generation of remote S Pen functionality while simultaneously closing a years-long legal dispute over touchless interaction technology. For now, the strongest explanation remains simpler: Samsung appears to have decided that Air Gestures were not used enough to justify the added hardware and complexity.
Texas sues Sony, Samsung, LG, Hisense, and TCL over smart TV "spying" August 28, 2026 Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed suit against five of the world's largest television manufacturers - Sony, Samsung, LG, Hisense, and TCL - alleging their smart TVs covertly track what Texans watch, down to the second, without adequate disclosure or consent. The suit calls out Hisense and TCL by name for their ties to the Chinese Communist Party, framing the case as both a consumer-privacy matter and a national-security concern. What the lawsuit alleges. At the center of the complaint is a technology called automatic content recognition (ACR) - software built into most modern smart TVs that identifies exactly what's on screen, whether it's a cable broadcast, a streaming show, or a video game, and reports it back to the manufacturer. Read the Texas Attorney General's official press release on the filing for the full list of statutory claims, and see Newsweek's plain-language summary of the allegations for additional context. How to check - and limit - what your own TV is tracking. You don't need to wait for a lawsuit to resolve to protect your own privacy. Every major smart TV brand names its ACR feature differently and buries the opt-out in a different settings menu: * Samsung: called "Viewing Information Services" - found under Settings > Terms & Policy. * LG: called "Live Plus" - found under Settings > Additional Settings. * Sony (Google TV): ACR is tied to Google's Ads Personalization settings within the TV's Privacy menu. * TCL and Hisense (Roku or Google TV-based models): check both the TV's built-in privacy settings and the underlying smart platform's ad-tracking controls. Turning these settings off doesn't stop your TV from working - it simply stops the manufacturer from building a viewing profile tied to your household. Part of a bigger pattern. GTA VI will have exclusive 'extended look' on Netflix, Meta fined $567m in largest child safety ruling. There were a lot of rumblings that Thurdsay would bring a new GTA VI trailer, as Tech Digest get closer to the game's November release date. Well, there wasn't one, but there was something else, and it's interesting. Rockstar announced that Grand Theft Auto VI will have an "extended look" three weeks from now, on August 27. The twist here is that it will premiere first on Netflix at 3 PM ET. Don't have a Netflix subscription? Well, it will go online on YouTube six hours later at 9 PM ET. Forbes A US judge in New Mexico has ordered Meta to pay another $567m (£421m) for its failure to warn the public about dangers its platforms posed to children, marking the largest fine against the company over child safety. Judge Bryan Biedscheid said the social media giant is a "public nuisance" akin to air pollution and that it must put the money in a fund aimed at reducing future harms. Thursday's ruling is in addition to $375m in fines Meta was already ordered to pay in the case, for a total of $942m. BBC Sony may be looking at ways to incorporate ads from "non-endemic" brands into its console, as the company increasingly looks for ways to maximise profits. Digiday spotted a series of new job listings posted last month by the platform holder, which imply it's looking to explore new advertising opportunities across the PlayStation ecosystem. One role based at its headquarters in San Mateo specifically seeks a Director of Client Partnerships, which would be responsible for partnering with major brands and selling emerging ad opportunities. PushSquare Dolby Laboratories and Hisense have launched the first rollout of Dolby Vision 2, bringing the next generation of Dolby's HDR picture technology to select Hisense television models through a firmware update. The rollout begins with Hisense's 2026 UX, UR9, UR8 and U7 series televisions - marketed as the U7 Pro in Europe, the Middle East and Central & South America - running either Google TV or the VIDAA operating system. According to the companies, additional models will receive the update in the coming weeks across North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. BroadbandTVNews Scientists have made the first viruses designed by artificial intelligence in a milestone that raises hopes for new medicines but also concerns over how to ensure the technology remains safe. The viruses are specific kinds known as bacteriophages, which only infect bacteria and are used around the world to treat patients with persistent infections. In lab tests, a cocktail of the AI-designed viruses killed E coli bugs that were resistant to natural bacteriophages. BBC A Brighton bar has banned customers from wearing "creepy and intrusive" Meta smart glasses, citing concerns over privacy and safety. The Yellow Book bar, on York Place, announced the policy in a post on Instagram, asking visitors to remove the wearable technology before entering the venue. A sign shared online by the bar reads: "Please don't wear Meta glasses at The Yellow Book because they are creepy and intrusive." TheArgus
