Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Four to six years of experience as a DevOps Engineer.
  • Excellent English communication skills for interaction with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Proficiency with version control systems, especially Git and Git workflows such as GitHub and GitLab.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, preferably OpenShift.
  • Expertise with Jenkins as a continuous integration and continuous delivery tool.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Shell.
  • Expertise with Ansible as an Infrastructure as Code tool.
  • Expertise in Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration, including practical experience crafting Helm charts.
  • Hands-on experience with Artifactory for artifact management and binary repositories.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing SonarQube for code quality and security analysis.
  • Familiarity with Grafana, Prometheus, and Splunk for monitoring and logging.
  • Understanding of networking concepts and system administration on Linux and Windows systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines to automate software builds, testing, and deployments.
  • Integrate development, testing, and deployment tools into the continuous integration and continuous delivery workflow using Jenkins.
  • Manage and optimize artifact repositories using Artifactory for storage, versioning, and distribution of binaries and dependencies.
  • Implement and manage static code analysis gates using SonarQube and CheckmarxOne within the continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline to ensure code quality and identify vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure continuous integration of code changes and efficient delivery of software.
  • Implement and manage infrastructure using Ansible, including centralized playbooks, reusable roles, Jinja2 templates, and environment-segregated inventories.
  • Provision and manage OpenShift cloud infrastructure for security, cost-effectiveness, and optimal performance.
  • Package applications using Docker.
  • Manage and orchestrate containerized applications using Kubernetes.
  • Build and sustain monitoring, logging, and alerting infrastructure with Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues, perform root cause analysis of production errors, and implement preventive measures.
  • Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Collaborate within a SAFe Agile Release Train to align DevOps practices with program objectives and Program Increment goals.
  • Collaborate with European counterparts.
  • Act as a liaison between development, operations, and cross-functional teams to foster shared responsibility.
  • Communicate technical issues and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development practices.

Airbus A350F freighter completes maiden flight with 4.3m cargo door for servers

Airbus has successfully completed the first flight of its A350F freighter, bringing the aerospace giant closer to delivering a high-capacity cargo aircraft. The plane took off from Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France, flying for four hours and ten minutes and reaching 25,000 feet. The A350F can carry a payload of 109 tonnes, compared to 64 tonnes for the existing A330F. It features a 4.3-metre cargo door large enough to accommodate turbofan engines and high-density computer servers. Airbus claims the A350F is more efficient than Boeing's rival 777F, despite having slightly less capacity. The company has already received orders for 115 A350Fs. A second test aircraft is nearly complete as Airbus begins the certification process requiring hundreds of test flights.

Airbus and Qantas back $30M funding for Australian SAF developer Jet Zero

Jet Zero Australia has raised $30 million to advance Project Ulysses, a commercial-scale sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel refinery in Townsville. The funding round was backed by institutional investors including Qantas and Airbus, both returning investors from 2023. South Korean company Posco International joined as a new strategic investor, with the parties exploring opportunities in fuel offtake, infrastructure and feedstock. The capital will fund completion of Front-End Engineering Design and support the project's progress towards Final Investment Decision and construction. Founded in 2021 by Ed Mason, Jet Zero develops biofuels production capacity in regional Australia. The project has received its final Development Permit Decision Notice from Queensland's Office of the Coordinator-General. It is expected to create approximately 1,000 construction jobs and 100 permanent operational roles.

Airbus shelves stricter office return plan after Spanish union strikes

Airbus has postponed its plan to reduce remote working after strikes by Spanish unions, Reuters reports. The aerospace manufacturer will allow employees to continue working from home an average of two days per week, shelving indefinitely a push to limit remote work to one day. Chief Executive Guillaume Faury had sought to require white-collar staff on-site four days weekly by September, citing the need for knowledge transfer. Spanish unions said roughly 40% of Airbus's 14,000 Spanish employees have walked out over remote work policies, transport, leave and wages. An Airbus spokesperson said the company would implement the transition "more gradually" based on employee feedback. French unions estimate a quarter to a third of Airbus's workforce has been hired in the past three years. Aircraft production has not been affected by the disruptions.
