Requirements
  • Board-certified or eligible physician with an MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent degree.
  • At least 5 years of undergraduate medical education administrative leadership experience.
  • Substantive experience with Liaison Committee on Medical Education accreditation, including participation in survey visits.
  • A current or previous appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, or equivalent experience and qualifications.
  • A record of accomplishments in teaching, research, clinical, scholarship, and/or service activities commensurate with associate professor or professor standards.
  • Ability to be present at the regional medical campus and Sidney Kimmel Medical College for in-person engagement and teaching.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering access and opportunity in the academic environment.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure exceptional educational experiences for learners while maintaining accreditation compliance and advancing the strategic growth and success of the Delaware Regional Medical Campus.
  • Oversee all three phases of the undergraduate medical education program at the regional campus in coordination with dean’s staff, departments, and clinical partners.
  • Lead the launch, growth, and long-term sustainability of the regional medical campus and ensure equivalent educational quality, student experience, and outcomes across all four years.
  • Recruit sufficient scientific and clinical faculty and ensure faculty onboarding and orientation for teaching roles and responsibilities.
  • Oversee administrative staff and student and faculty experience and support associated with the regional medical campus.
  • Provide educational leadership and academic expertise focused on implementing and evaluating the curriculum.
  • Oversee student promotion and professionalism efforts.
  • Directly oversee and assess the effectiveness of regional campus staff, including phase directors, block directors, clinical skills and preceptorship leadership, basic science faculty, simulation/interprofessional education leaders, curricular operations, and assessment staff.
  • Ensure optimal curriculum delivery and oversee related operational processes.
  • Represent the regional campus on the Sidney Kimmel Medical College Curriculum Committee.
  • Assist with creation and maintenance of the regional campus education budget.
  • Collect data for comparability reports, LCME annual reporting, internal Independent Student Analysis surveys, and related interpretation.
  • Participate in the LCME self-study and site visit processes.
  • Coordinate Phase 2 and Phase 3 rotation experiences so students meet program requirements and receive appropriate specialty exposure.
  • Support students with programmatic requirements, testing needs, career advising, MSPE preparation, and residency match efforts.
  • Build community and connection among regional campus students and address concerns regarding clinical preceptors.
  • Lead clinical preceptor recruitment and onboarding.
  • Guide and mentor clinical preceptors and residents to align with curriculum, teaching standards, college requirements, and accreditation requirements.
  • Visit clinical sites to evaluate facilities, monitor the clinical learning environment, and ensure compliance with accreditation and educational standards.
  • Maintain clinical affiliate partnerships and professional relationships with regional leaders.
  • Ensure adequate faculty development resources for clinical preceptors.
  • Act as leader and representative of the regional site and serve on committees, working groups, and task forces as needed.
  • Provide teaching, academic support, and course direction as needed.
  • Directly manage regional campus staff and ensure effective execution of administrative duties.
  • Support faculty appointments, ranking, and promotion according to college and departmental policies.
  • Partner on philanthropic priorities, regional service activities, residency program development, and new region-specific education efforts.
  • Partner with the Office of Research to advance scholarship and research activity with local and regional impact.
  • Serve as SKMC’s primary relationship steward with University of Delaware leadership and coordinate shared-space and operational matters.
  • Engage with Delaware state agency stakeholders and contribute to program accountability and reporting.

  • Demonstrated success in organizational change or new program building.
  • At least 5 years of precepting experience.
  • Delaware residency or willingness to relocate to the Delaware/greater Philadelphia region.
