Salary Range: 150000 to 200000 (Currency: USD) (Pay period: per-year-salary)
Boston Materials is seeking a Principal Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing to lead the commissioning and ongoing operation of our high-volume manufacturing lines. This is a pivotal role at the intersection of materials development and production scale-up: you will work hand-in-hand with our equipment and process engineering teams to design and optimize production workflows, implement manufacturing execution systems, and build the operational infrastructure needed to take novel materials processes from the development environment into controlled, repeatable manufacturing. The ideal candidate is as comfortable on the shop floor debugging a newly commissioned line as they are in a planning session defining process control strategies. We value depth of experience with early-stage, materials-based processes over breadth of experience in mature, high-volume manufacturing environments.
Manufactures liquid-metal thermal interface materials
Boston Materials develops advanced energy-transfer composites for high-performance electronics, aerospace, and electrified mobility. Its flagship Liquid Metal ZRT® combines vertically oriented carbon fibers with a liquid metal matrix to form a thermal interface that boosts cooling and is designed as a drop-in preform for automated assembly. The same Z-axis fiber approach is used for interlaminar reinforcement to prevent delamination, and the company is exploring lightweight bipolar plates for hydrogen fuel cells, produced via roll-to-roll processing with reclaimed carbon fiber. The goal is to scale production to meet industrial demand across semiconductors, aerospace, and electrified-vehicle markets while expanding adoption and advancing sustainability through recycled carbon fiber use.
