Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, plus either six months of clinical training in an approved phlebotomy training program, two years of experience in specimen collection, specimen processing, and specimen requisitioning for a clinical laboratory or healthcare delivery system, or at least a two-year degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or a health-related specialty.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to understand and apply accurate procedures in specimen handling and clerical processing.
  • Sufficient finger sensation and visual ability to locate patients’ blood vessels.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Color vision acuity.
  • Successful completion of a color-acuity screening test.
Responsibilities
  • Assign all duties and tasks performed by Laboratory Technical Assistants.
  • Perform specimen collection and processing for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as necessary.
  • Assist with laboratory data collection systems and equipment to ensure proper ordering, cancellations, and charges for all accounts.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to use and understand medical laboratory terminology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems and design.
  • Demonstrated public relations skills and service delivery training.
