Requirements
- A master's degree from a Council on Social Work Education-accredited school is required.
- Current and unrestricted United States Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensure is required.
- Two years of full-time post-master's experience within the last three years in professional clinical counseling service programs serving men, women, and children who are abusive or abused are required.
- Two years of experience working with children, families, and groups in clinical or community organization settings, or as a program manager with demonstrated responsibility for program planning, implementation of education and intervention services, and community collaboration, are required.
- Experience working with professionals and agencies that provide community support and counseling intervention services to children and families is required.
- Experience as a group therapy facilitator or co-leader is required.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance is required.
- The employee must comply with government vaccination requirements reflected in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, including vaccinations for Hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and influenza, and proof of a negative tuberculosis skin test.
- Familiarity with local laws and the legal rights of victims, including how to obtain protective orders, is required.
- Knowledge of community resources for connecting survivors with housing, counseling, and financial assistance is required.
- The ability to develop and implement safety plans tailored to each victim's situation is required.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care principles is required.
Responsibilities
- Direct the development and implementation of prevention services under the leadership of the Family Advocacy Officer.
- Support outreach and community prevention by organizing and implementing primary and secondary prevention activities, presentations, and programs.
- Assess families referred for suspected maltreatment and treat individuals, families, and groups whose allegations meet maltreatment criteria.
- Provide voluntary, comprehensive, primarily home-based prevention services to families through the New Parent Support Program.
- Provide voluntary prevention counseling to individuals, families, and groups at risk for maltreatment through Family Advocacy Strength-Based Therapy services.
- Serve as the primary treatment provider for assigned maltreatment and Family Advocacy Strength-Based Therapy cases, coordinating family services and monitoring client participation and progress using social casework, psychotherapy, and psychoeducational interventions.
- Complete psychosocial assessments, assess safety on an ongoing basis, and assist family members with safety planning.
- Present family assessment findings, the Case Review Board determination, and treatment recommendations.
- Coordinate with prevention staff on referrals to educational services as part of intervention plans.
- Collaborate with New Parent Support Program team members to develop service plans incorporating primary and secondary prevention services.
- Conduct home visits for high-needs New Parent Support Program clients who request social work intervention.
- Provide prevention services, briefings, and educational presentations.
- Provide supportive services and guidance in communication, relationship enhancement, conflict management, and bereavement.
- Provide education and advocacy services with public affairs to increase awareness of Family Advocacy Program services for military families and promote effective community response.
- Serve as Team Leader and Community Liaison and act as the primary representative to the Integrated Delivery System.
- Coordinate all Outreach Program services under the direction of the Family Advocacy Officer.
- Promote community initiatives to reduce maltreatment risk factors and foster community resiliency.
- Implement community organization and social marketing strategies to increase awareness and prevent family maltreatment in collaboration with the Integrated Delivery System and other key organizations.
