About the company

Polymarket operates a decentralized prediction market where users trade crypto against outcomes of real-world events, from elections to sports. Bets are placed by buying and selling shares tied to event results; outcomes are resolved by decentralized oracles and rewards are paid in cryptocurrency. The platform blends a familiar trading interface with blockchain-based transparency and immutability, and it now operates in the U.S. through the acquisition of QCX, a CFTC-licensed exchange. Its goal is to offer hedging and speculative opportunities on real-world events while combining crowd-sourced forecasting with regulated crypto trading in the United States.

Polymarket adds self-exclusion and deposit limits to curb compulsive trading

Polymarket has introduced self-exclusion options and deposit limits to help users manage compulsive trading behaviour on its prediction market platform. Users can now lock themselves out for 30 days, one year, or permanently, the company announced on Wednesday. US users can set daily, weekly, or monthly deposit limits across all funding methods. Lowering a limit takes effect immediately, whilst increases require a cooling-off period. The platform has partnered with Birches Health to provide clinical assessments and telehealth treatment for users experiencing compulsive financial trading behaviour. The measures come as prediction markets face growing regulatory scrutiny. Last week, Polymarket sued New York Attorney General Letitia James, who had challenged the platform over allegations of illegal gambling operations.

Discover more Cryptocurrency exchange listing Secure crypto wallet Currencies & Foreign Exchange Her appointment comes as prediction markets seek to broaden participation beyond retail traders. Trading activity has grown over the past year, with sports-related offerings driving much of the increased retail interest, while platforms now pursue institutional liquidity and larger traders. Polymarket CEO and founder Shayne Coplan said Mantil's institutional experience and relationships will support the company's expansion. Mantil will focus on developing Polymarket's institutional business and extending the use of prediction markets across investment and risk-management strategies. Institutional adoption remains in its early stages.
