About the job

Requirements
  • Seven to ten years of experience in digital strategy, growth marketing, or paid media, with a portfolio demonstrating strategic leadership and hands-on execution.
  • Deep, current fluency across major social and digital platforms, including how they work algorithmically, culturally, and commercially.
  • A proven track record of driving measurable audience growth and engagement through integrated organic and paid digital strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to build a performance framework, interpret results, and translate them into strategy independently of a data team.
  • Experience leading paid media campaigns across social, search, and programmatic channels, including budget ownership and agency management.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data and platform dynamics into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
  • A strong awareness of current culture and media, including the ability to identify what is gaining traction and why.
  • Experience working in a fast-moving, mission-driven, or startup-like environment while building systems and executing against them.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across editorial, creative, and marketing teams.
  • Enthusiasm for the Builders mission and ability to apply digital strategy in service of a cross-partisan, solutions-oriented civic movement.
Responsibilities
  • Own Builders’ social media strategy across all platforms, setting the vision, standards, and playbooks that guide the team’s presence, engagement, and growth, and developing platform-specific strategies based on audience behavior.
  • Lead and develop the social media team, fostering creativity, experimentation, and accountability for quality and performance.
  • Develop strategies that prioritize community quality and meaningful engagement over vanity metrics and follower counts.
  • Develop a creator strategy spanning ideological diversity and identify credible voices across the political spectrum to carry cross-partisan, solutions-oriented stories.
  • Lead YouTube strategy by developing a channel vision, content framework, and growth plan to build a destination for civic storytelling and community engagement.
  • Monitor platform algorithm changes, emerging formats, and cultural trends and translate them into actionable recommendations.
  • Lead paid media strategy across social, search, and programmatic channels, including audience targeting, creative testing, and spend allocation.
  • Partner with the CMO on budget planning and media mix decisions, providing data-driven recommendations on investment for growth.
  • Develop and manage a creative testing framework so campaigns generate cumulative learnings.
  • Oversee paid media execution with external agencies or in-house teams and hold partners accountable to performance standards and strategic alignment.
  • Continuously optimize campaigns using performance data, adjusting targeting, creative, and spend in real time.
  • Own campaign-insights frameworks, dashboards, and reporting cadences that give the CMO and senior leadership an integrated view of strategy execution across channels.
  • Define and track social and media key performance indicators across awareness, engagement, conversion, and audience growth, linking plans and execution to results.
  • Translate performance data into actionable recommendations for future strategy and identify where to double down or course-correct.
  • Own social listening as a strategic function, using qualitative signals, audience sentiment, and conversation trends to inform content strategy and assess how Builders’ message is landing.
  • Champion strategic use of artificial intelligence and emerging technology across digital workflows, including content optimization, audience targeting, reporting automation, and trend detection.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools that increase team speed, precision, and impact while enhancing strategy.
  • Monitor artificial intelligence and marketing technology developments and provide forward-looking recommendations to the CMO.
  • Serve as a digital strategy thought partner to the CMO, Creative Director, and Editorial Director, contributing data and platform expertise to content, campaign, and communications decisions.
  • Partner with the Editorial Director, Creative Director, go-to-market lead, Civic Impact team, and Daniel Lubetzky’s social team to integrate social strategy and content and align messages, audiences, formats, and channels.
  • Manage external vendors, analytics partners, and paid media agencies, setting expectations, ensuring accountability, and maintaining strategic alignment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in civic, advocacy, nonprofit, or public affairs communications.
  • Experience scaling digital audiences for a media brand, movement, or public figure.
  • Exposure to artificial-intelligence-assisted marketing workflows and tools.

About the company

Builders Network is a nonprofit global initiative that counters toxic polarization by equipping people with skills for constructive dialogue, collaboration, and problem-solving. It operates through media content (such as Un/Divided and The Tennessee 11), educational resources (the Builders Toolkit with the Polarization Detox Challenge and Builders Crash Course), and real-world programs like Citizen Solutions that convene opposing voices to craft common-ground policies. It differentiates itself by leveraging a global network of 300+ Movement Partners, combining media literacy, dialogue training, and policy impact, rather than focusing on a single program. Its goal is to replace us-vs-them thinking with curiosity, compassion, courage, and creativity, enabling citizens to address societal problems together.
