About the company

Coupang runs one of South Korea's largest online stores, selling groceries, electronics, household goods and fashion to consumers and small businesses. Rather than relying on outside carriers, it delivers most orders through its own warehouses and drivers, and its Rocket Delivery service brings millions of items to doorsteps overnight or the same day. Shoppers order through the Coupang app or website, and the company earns money from its own retail sales, commissions and fulfillment fees from outside sellers, and a paid membership. Coupang was founded in Seoul in 2010 and is headquartered in Seattle, with most of its operations and staff in South Korea.

Airbnb vs Coupang: why Airbnb's 20.4% margin beats Coupang's 0.6% as a 2026 buy

Motley Fool columnist Robert Izquierdo picks Airbnb over Coupang as the better consumer stock to buy in 2026. Airbnb posted 2025 revenue of $12.3 billion, up 10.8%, with net income of $2.5 billion. Coupang's revenue reached $34.5 billion, up 14.1%, but net income was only $208 million. Coupang's growth has slowed since a November 2025 data breach. South Korea fined it over $400 million, and quarterly revenue growth fell from 18% in the third quarter of 2025 to 4% in the second quarter of 2026. Airbnb's second-quarter revenue rose 17% to $3.6 billion. It trades at a higher sales multiple (8.0x versus 0.7x).

Sartori Cheese partners with Coupang, Inc. to introduce artisan cheese to korean households. Published on 10/22/2026 at 11:47 am EDT S&P Capital IQ Sartori Cheese was accelerating its international growth and expanding its reach to new consumers across South Korea through its partnership with Coupang, Inc. While Sartori Cheese has exported overseas for more than 15 years, its newly-formed relationship with Coupang has provided a powerful accelerator for its growth with customers in Asia. Coupang?s logistics network allows Sartori to move its cheese to consumers in Asia efficiently. Customer orders in Korea are delivered through Rocket Fresh, the country?s premier online grocer. This efficiency provides American producers the opportunity to offer high-value perishable agricultural goods, which are sensitive to transit times, to millions of customers. Overall, Coupang helped generate more than $5 billion in sales of U.S. goods and services overseas in 2025 alone, working with thousands of American companies and brands to sell everything from Sartori cheese to artisan salt and sports nutrition supplements. Coupang, its subsidiaries face $1.5 million fine for workplace violations.

Coupang, its subsidiaries face $1.5 million fine for workplace violations. Posted By: Gopi October 22, 2026 Seoul, Oct 22 ( SocialNews.XYZ) The labour ministry here said on Thursday it plans to fine e-commerce giant Coupang and its subsidiaries a combined 1.96 billion won ($1.5 million) for more than a hundred labour and workplace safety violations. Read Daily News The ministry said its inspection of the online retailer, its logistics units - Coupang Fulfillment Services and Coupang Logistics Services - and its logistics centres found a combined 206 labour and workspace safety violations, reports Yonhap news agency. The ministry decided to take legal action for 61 violations, such as absence of safety measures for conveyor belts, and impose fines for the rest, which include failures or delays in submitting industrial accident reports to local labour authorities. Other violations subject to fines include failures to conduct special health checkups for night shift workers and improper management or installation of break facilities. The inspection took place following allegations the company covered up industrial accidents after Coupang logistics centre worker Jang Deok-jun died of acute myocardial infarction in 2020 following an overnight shift. While a ministry probe found that Coupang founder Kim Bom-suk had ordered a company official to not keep records indicating that Jang had worked hard, the ministry said it could not take legal action as the statute of limitations of five years had passed. Earlier, South Korea's fair trade watchdog approved voluntary corrective measures worth 3 billion won ($1.94 million) proposed by Coupang Corp. and its private-label affiliate over unfair dealings with subcontractors. Discover more News aggregation service Movie reviews platform South Cinema news The decision by the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) came after the watchdog's probe found that Coupang and its wholly owned subsidiary, Coupang Private Label Brands (CPLB), had sought a consent decree to resolve the case without further legal proceedings. International news reports According to the FTC, the two companies had provided 314 subcontractors with contracts that omitted legally required information and lowered supply prices for 94 subcontractors through discount promotions that were not stipulated in their agreements since 2022. S. Korea to introduce strengthened penalties for large-scale data leaks.

S. Korea to introduce strengthened penalties for large-scale data leaks. 16:12, 10 September 2026 South Korea will introduce strengthened penalties this week for companies that suffer personal information leaks affecting more than 10 million people, the privacy watchdog said Thursday, Yonhap reports. The move comes as Seoul has sought to strengthen protection of personal information in the wake of high-profile cases, including e-commerce operator Coupang's data breach that affected more than 37 million users. Under the revised personal information protection law set to take effect Friday, companies that suffer such large-scale leaks due to intentional misconduct or gross negligence can be punished with a penalty up to 10 percent of their sales, according to the Personal Information Protection Commission. Companies that repeatedly violate personal information laws within three years or those that suffer data leaks by failing to follow corrective orders are also subject to the punishment. Before the revision, companies were subject to a penalty of up to 3 percent of sales. The watchdog, however, noted that it could reduce up to 40 percent of the penalty by taking into account the level of investment companies took for personal information protection and other safety measures. As written before, South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) imposed a record $410 million (624.7 billion won) fine on e-commerce giant Coupang Corp. for privacy violations.
