Requirements
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in market discovery, commercial strategy, venture building, product strategy, corporate innovation, business development, technology commercialisation, ecosystem development, investment, or related fields.
  • Deep experience operating within a mature innovation ecosystem and building trusted relationships with senior industry stakeholders, operators, investors, and customers.
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to distinguish market signal from noise and translate complex external input into practical commercialisation implications.
  • Exceptional listening, curiosity, and synthesis skills to draw out information from conversations and turn fragmented input into actionable insights.
  • Ability to operate independently in an offsite or geographically distributed role while remaining closely aligned with organisational priorities, colleagues, and culture.
  • Ability to operate through influence in complex ecosystems involving stakeholders with their own mandates, incentives, and priorities.
  • A systems mindset connecting relationships, market intelligence, intellectual property strategy, translational funding, venture creation, licensing, and portfolio management across the commercialisation journey.
  • Technical domain fluency across artificial intelligence, computing, software systems, control systems, and related digital and computational technologies.
  • Technical domain fluency across materials science, chemistry, physics, photonics, microelectronics, advanced materials, hardware technologies, and related physical science and engineering fields.
  • Experience helping early-stage technologies engage customers, validate unmet needs, identify design partners, or develop credible paths to market.
Responsibilities
  • Represent NUS Enterprise within the assigned Global Node and build trusted relationships across the regional innovation ecosystem.
  • Engage with leaders, investors, operators, corporate partners, ecosystem builders, government agencies, and other stakeholders relevant to the assigned track.
  • Develop a practical understanding of important ecosystem participants, their priorities, the location of expertise, and how to access credible market signals quickly.
  • Maintain a live view of market needs, technology trends, investment activity, industry priorities, customer pain points, adoption barriers, competitive dynamics, and strategic white spaces relevant to the assigned track.
  • Listen across ecosystem conversations to identify meaningful signals, recurring patterns, emerging opportunities, and potential risks.
  • Translate market intelligence into practical insights that may inform opportunity selection, intellectual property strategy, translational funding, venture creation, licensing, partnership development, or portfolio management decisions.
  • Facilitate introductions between NUS Enterprise colleagues and potential customers, design partners, licensees, strategic partners, investors, advisors, mentors, and collaborators.
  • Help colleagues access market perspectives, external expertise, and ecosystem relationships needed to advance commercialisation activities.
  • Support early validation of commercial assumptions by identifying appropriate contacts, questions, and context for interpreting market feedback.
  • Participate in team discussions, portfolio reviews, opportunity assessments, and knowledge-sharing activities across the organisation.
  • Share relationships, intelligence, and opportunities proactively across NUS Enterprise as institutional assets.
  • Collaborate with other Global Nodes to identify cross-market patterns, compare ecosystem signals, and strengthen global commercialisation intelligence.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree such as a Master of Science, Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Business Administration, Doctor of Medicine, or equivalent.
  • Experience working across multiple innovation ecosystems, geographies, or markets.
  • A track record as a founder, operator, investor, scout, product leader, corporate innovation professional, technology commercialisation professional, or ecosystem builder.
  • Working knowledge of university commercialisation, technology transfer, licensing, venture creation, translational research, or public-sector innovation environments.

Playground Global and Matter Venture Partners join $117M NUS VC programme to tap Singapore deep tech

US venture capital firms Playground Global and Matter Venture Partners have joined NUS Enterprise's US$117 million VC Programme, gaining access to Singapore's deep tech startup ecosystem. The partnerships will connect promising Singaporean startups in AI, biotech, quantum technologies and advanced materials with US markets and venture networks. NUS Enterprise will establish its first global outpost at Playground Global's 70,000-square-foot Silicon Valley facility, The Studio, providing NUS-backed founders with laboratories, prototyping workshops and market exposure to validate technologies and refine product-market fit. The NUS VC Programme comprises US$39 million in investments across selected VC firms and US$78 million reserved for co-investments in NUS-affiliated startups. Since 2001, NUS Enterprise has nurtured 10 unicorns and over 3,000 startups.

HYDGEN Raises SGD 2M for Green Hydrogen

HYDGEN has secured nearly SGD 2 million in seed funding, led by Cloudberry Pioneer Investments, with participation from NUS, TK Partners, and angel investors. The funds will be used to develop a 2 MW manufacturing facility in India, a 25 kW AEM electrolyzer, and expand into India and Southeast Asia. HYDGEN's AEM electrolyzers offer cost-effective, decentralized green hydrogen production, targeting small to mid-sized industries facing high costs and logistical challenges with traditional hydrogen supply.
