Requirements
  • An active Nursing Assistant Registration or Nursing Assistant Certification is required at the time of application.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A Food Handlers Permit must be obtained within 7 days of hire.
  • An active Basic Life Support certification is required, or it must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats, including completing objective clinical documentation.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals from varied backgrounds, education levels, and socioeconomic statuses.
  • Basic computer skills, including documenting in an electronic medical record, using electronic time tracking, and using Outlook, Word, and the company intranet.
  • Ability to work in a residential inpatient setting involving sitting and constant movement, and lift 10-20 pounds.
  • The position has Category I blood-borne pathogen exposure potential.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor and supervise client activities and behaviors, including general milieu supervision and scheduled patient rounding.
  • Complete clear, objective clinical documentation regarding patient activities and behaviors within an appropriate timeframe.
  • Provide clinical staff with feedback regarding patient interactions, activities, and behaviors.
  • Report suspected changes in patient condition and potential crisis situations to the charge nurse or unit leader.
  • Follow patients’ written treatment plans.
  • Provide verbal redirection and gradual guidance to patients, model appropriate behavior, and use de-escalation techniques aligned with provided training.
  • Remain alert and provide direct line-of-sight monitoring of patients as needed.
  • Perform general housekeeping, including vacuuming, dusting, washing dishes, laundry, and sanitizing counters.
  • Engage patients in social conversation, provide supportive listening, and encourage or set up recreational activities.
  • Complete inventories of patients’ personal belongings and assist with admissions as needed.
  • Attend and participate in required trainings, meetings, and supervision sessions.
  • Serve patient meals and snacks.
  • Maintain and enhance customer service for internal and external customers.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with registered nurses, providers, and other staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

It runs 24/7 crisis intervention and Crisis Response Services, including Involuntary Treatment Act evaluations, and operates 48 inpatient beds for Evaluation & Treatment and Stabilization. Most services are outpatient, and FBH serves Children and Youth, Adults, and Elders, with programs such as Peer Support, nursing home and school-based services, care for the homeless, a Clubhouse, and Vocational Rehabilitation/Employment services. With a staff of 700+ and more than 16,000 clients served each year, the goal is to deliver accessible, coordinated care across ages and life situations in the community.
