T-Mobile stock down 31.8% in a year: will support hold after past 50% rebounds?

T-Mobile US stock has fallen 31.8% over the past year, dividends included, while the S&P 500 gained 15.3%. The shares are back at levels where they bounced in late 2023 and early 2024. After four earlier starting points between November 2023 and April 2024, the stock rose more than 50% within about a year each time. The median best gain was 56.7%. Revenue grew 9.7% in the twelve months to June 2026, against 0.7% in the period to June 2024. The operating margin was 20.1%, close to 19.9% two years ago. Management expects slower growth in the third quarter, guiding to about 250,000 postpaid net account additions, down from 277,000 in the second. Support counts as broken if the stock closes more than 5% below today's price.

AT&T and T-Mobile step up AI security spending as AT&T eyes $18B free cash flow

AT&T and T-Mobile are spending more to protect customer data and networks from AI-related security threats, executives from both companies told Reuters. They said fully self-running networks are still years away. T-Mobile chief technology officer John Saw said the company is improving threat monitoring and working with vendors to close security holes quickly. T-Mobile's breaches in 2021 and 2023 affected over 100 million customer accounts. AT&T chief technology officer Jeremy Legg said some risks lie outside the company's control. AT&T uses encryption, multi-factor authentication, and human oversight of data access. In the third quarter, AT&T's free cash flow was about $5 billion, and capital spending was $5.6 billion.

T-Mobile launches T-Mix plans from $55 a month with customisable "Picks" benefits

T-Mobile has launched T-Mix, a wireless plan that lets customers choose which benefits come with their service. Three plans, Standard, More and Loaded, will be available in November. Customers use "Picks" toward streaming, music, gaming, food delivery, sports, AI, wireless benefits and device promotions, including a new phone. They can change their mix during set windows, four times a year, without changing their monthly plan. Standard costs $55 a month for one line and includes one Pick. More costs $75 with two Picks, and Loaded costs $95 with three. Prices include AutoPay and exclude taxes and fees. T-Mobile says Loaded offers at least $120 in average monthly value per line.

T-Mobile US stock falls 5% as SpaceX reportedly eyes 80,000 towers after $8B spectrum deal

T-Mobile US shares fell 5% by 11:15 on Friday after Bloomberg reported that SpaceX plans to lease 80,000 cellphone towers and build a fourth major US mobile carrier to compete with T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T. Two weeks ago, SpaceX said it would pay $8 billion to Grain Management for up to 14 megahertz of paired spectrum in the 800 MHz band. It said the deal would help Starlink Mobile become a major US carrier. The towers would supplement the 15,000 direct-to-cell Starlink satellites SpaceX has asked the Federal Communications Commission to let it launch. SpaceX earns a 45% operating margin from its Starlink connectivity business. T-Mobile's margin is 22%, and new competition could push it lower.

Sean Love joins T-Mobile as Vice President of Commercial Management, broadband.

Sean Love joins T-Mobile as Vice President of Commercial Management, broadband. Sean Love has joined T-Mobile as Vice President of Commercial Management for Broadband, taking on a leadership role focused on the commercial strategy and performance of the company's broadband business. The appointment comes as telecommunications providers continue to compete for customers across home internet and fiber services. With broadband becoming an increasingly important part of the connectivity market, commercial leadership plays a key role in customer acquisition, retention, pricing, and business performance. In his new position, Love's responsibilities are associated with the commercial management of T-Mobile's broadband business, which includes high-speed internet and fiber offerings. The role involves aligning growth strategies with customer demand, evaluating market performance, and coordinating initiatives across functions such as marketing, finance, pricing, and sales. Broadband providers face growing pressure to attract new subscribers while retaining existing customers in a competitive market. Promotional strategies, customer experience, service availability, and pricing all influence purchasing decisions. Managing these areas requires a balance between subscriber growth, customer retention, and long-term revenue objectives. T-Mobile has been expanding its presence beyond traditional mobile services, with broadband representing an important part of its broader connectivity strategy. The company operates in a market where wireless home internet and fiber services are increasingly relevant to households seeking reliable connectivity for remote work, streaming, connected devices, and everyday digital activities. Love's appointment reflects the importance of commercial strategy in the evolving telecommunications landscape. As providers expand their broadband offerings, leadership teams must respond to changing customer expectations, competitive pressures, and opportunities across different distribution channels. The move also highlights how broadband growth increasingly depends on more than network availability alone. Customer acquisition, retention planning, market intelligence, and coordinated execution are central to how telecommunications companies manage their services and compete for subscribers. As the broadband market continues to evolve, commercial leadership will remain an important factor in shaping how providers pursue growth and respond to changing connectivity needs.
