Etogas/HZI EtoGas designs and builds turnkey Power-to-Gas plants that convert surplus renewable electricity into storable gases such as green hydrogen and synthetic natural gas. The process starts with electrolysis to split water into hydrogen, which can be used directly or combined with carbon dioxide in a methanation step to produce SNG that works with existing gas infrastructure. The company provides design, construction, service, maintenance, and feasibility and operational studies, with the Werlte Audi e-gas plant as a notable industrial-scale example. After being acquired by Hitachi Zosen Inova, it operates as HZI EtoGas to leverage a global network for large projects, with the goal of supporting grid stability and long-term decarbonization by storing renewable energy as synthetic gas.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • August 2026 Casablanca concession gives first African waste-to-energy beachhead and 2030 revenue visibility.
  • June 2026 Oman green-hydrogen partnership expands renewable gas pipeline beyond Europe.
  • March 2026 Minnesota biomethane launch and Rome contract show active biogas demand.

What critics are saying

  • Casablanca needs financing by Q4 2026; any lender gap delays a 2030 start.
  • Protos carbon-capture and Rome buildouts demand flawless execution; overruns compress margins into 2029.
  • If Casablanca financing fails, Kanadevia loses its African entry and centerpiece 2030 growth story.

What makes Kanadevia Inova unique

  • Kanadevia Inova pairs waste-to-energy, biogas, and Power-to-Gas engineering under one roof.
  • Its HZI EtoGas heritage includes Audi's 6.3 MW Werlte methanation plant.
  • It sells turnkey plants plus long-term operations, not just equipment.
