The initiative is funded by the SESAR Joint Undertaking, the technological pillar of the Single European Sky, within the Horizon Europe program. The event was the Málaga IAM (Innovative Air Mobility) Open Forum, held at the University of Málaga. It brought together government agencies, industry representatives, operators, and air navigation providers. Vertical Aerospace, developer of the VALO manned air taxi, and Odys Aviation, responsible for the LAILA cargo drone, were among the featured participants, along with Aena, ACS-Iridium, and Ineco. Use cases and demonstrations. VALO is one of Europe's first manned air taxis for passengers. It's an eVTOL, short for electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. LAILA is a long-range hybrid cargo drone. Odys will test a 200-kilometer unmanned route between the ports of Málaga and Almería, according to local press. Projection of an image of the Vertical Aerospace air taxi. Photo: Enaire Enaire will contribute to designing and validating the operational concepts that will allow manned aircraft, eVTOLs, cargo drones, and conventional air traffic to coexist. The project will address digital flight planning, process automation, and the management of vertiports and alternative landing zones. It will also cover coordination between operators and air traffic controllers. Enaire will also play a prominent role in the air taxi demonstrations planned for southern Spain in 2028. It will evaluate air traffic management procedures and digital services on future corridors between Málaga and Marbella. David González Campos, head of the control tower at Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, participated in the panel on air logistics with drones. Budget and partners.
