IFF introduces AQUASCENT(TM): advanced water-based fragrance technology. Business Wire Published Sep 30, 2026 New innovation from IFF's Science of Performance platform offers greater transparency and olfactive performance for fine fragrance NEW YORK - IFF (NYSE: IFF), a global leader in flavors, fragrances and health and biosciences, today introduced AQUASCENT(TM), a new vegan, water-based carrier for fine fragrance. Crafted from a proprietary formula made with biodegradable materials, AQUASCENT(TM) delivers enhanced olfactive performance and visual clarity for consumers while supporting a more sustainable approach to shipping the product. Story continues below "AQUASCENT(TM) reflects our continued investment in new scent technologies and formats that create compelling fragrance experiences while supporting the industry's growing focus on sustainability," said Sabrya Meflah, president of Fine Fragrance for IFF Scent. "This technology illustrates our ambition to set a new standard for how fragrance is created, delivered and experienced." Top Stories Interested in more newsletters? Browse here. AQUASCENT(TM) is part of IFF's Science of Performance platform, which focuses on solutions that enhance fragrance performance by shaping how scent is delivered and experienced over time. The market for water-based fragrance continues to grow as leading brands launch new water-based products and consumers embrace new scent formats and experiences. IFF web-listening data shows that worldwide Google searches for "water-based perfumes" increased 18% year-to-date, while related TikTok content has generated more than 15 million views. AQUASCENT(TM) supports fragrance loads from 10% to up to 25%, compared with up to 15% for most comparable systems. Achieving this level of fragrance concentration in water-based formulations can be challenging, as fragrance oils can cause products to become cloudy when mixed with water. AQUASCENT(TM) overcomes this issue while maintaining transparency, enabling brands to create high-performance, visually clear fragrances. As a result, fragrance brands can deliver the lastingness and visual elegance consumers associate with fine fragrance products. Formulated without intentionally added ethanol, preservatives or silicone, the technology features a non-sticky formulation with documented skin-hydrating properties for a comfortable skin feel. AQUASCENT(TM) also offers a more resource-efficient approach to transportation. The carrier technology can be supplied as a concentrate alone, allowing fragrance brands to add water during final production rather than transporting it as part of the formula. By reducing the volume and weight of material shipped, this compact format can help lower CO[2] emissions from shipping. "AQUASCENT(TM) approaches water-based fragrance as a complete fine fragrance system, balancing olfactive performance and visual clarity and a concentrated format designed for efficient transportation," said Fatimata Dembele-Kuntzmann, Ph.D., senior technical manager for IFF Scent. "For brands, that means the opportunity to embrace a growing fragrance format without compromising the qualities that define the fine fragrance experience." IFF has launched Omni-Bos PHY, a phytase enzyme designed specifically for dairy cattle. The technology unlocks nutrients already present in feed by breaking down phytate, a compound that binds nutrients and reduces their availability to animals. Traditional phytase enzymes have been used in poultry and swine production but were not designed to withstand dairy cattle's digestive conditions. Omni-Bos PHY helps cows utilise more protein, phosphorus, and minerals from existing feed ingredients, reducing reliance on supplemental nutrients. The product will initially launch in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific regions. Global milk production is projected to grow 2% annually over the coming decade, increasing pressure on producers to improve productivity whilst managing feed costs and sustainability targets.
IFF's channel partners extend expertise across the globe. 16 September 2026 in: Home Care IFF's channel partnerships close the gap for home care manufacturers, delivering enzyme innovation to help companies that have historically operated without access to top-tier enzyme science. Through channel partners like IndSpyre Solutions in North America and IMCD across Europe and Latin America, IFF has built a distribution network that circulates expertise, not just products. Quality that travels, speed when it counts. Internal validation testing is the moment of truth for IFF customers bringing a new home care or industrial & institutional formulation to market. IFF's process eliminates surprises during this important stage. Years of methodology alignment, shared training, and mutual investment with channel partners ensures the same tests are run under the same conditions that IFF would run in its own labs, guaranteeing the integrity of the results for each customer. The clock is always running in the home care market, with a typical product facing roughly a one-year development window before the market moves on to something new. IndSpyre and IMCD work proactively to provide their customers with validated solutions and starting formulations benchmarked against leading brand tiers, rather than waiting for challenges to react to. Expertise travels smoothly throughout this network, uncovering trends in isolated supply chains in days, rather than months, offering opportunities to provide solutions sooner. Regional labs, global standards. Behind every validated enzyme-powered home care formulation is rigorous lab work. IFF's channel partners extend this rigor across the globe. IndSpyre's 3,000 sq ft North American home care lab is built to IFF standards. IMCD's newly opened Cologne, Germany facility dedicates 200 sqm to laundry and dish development, reproducing market-relevant methods (e.g., IKW, Ecolabel). And in Brazil, IMCD has become a reference for enzymatic cleaning solutions in a region that was previously without dedicated enzyme support, providing Latin America customers the same quality of technical service as customers anywhere in the world. A complete and trusted path to market. IFF can recommend the right enzyme, but a finished product needs much more, including surfactants, polymers, stabilizers, bio-based options, third-party certifications, and a formulation plan that holds together across the whole ingredient list. IFF's channel partners add complete, tested formulations covering every ingredient on the back of the bottle, with the data to back it up, plus the expertise to make sure sustainability claims actually hold. Channel partnerships rest on mutual expertise and transparent investment. IFF provides enzyme science and application testing, while channel partners contribute formulation knowledge, market access, and broader relationships. Both sides own the results, sustained by regular reporting and shared customer days that keep methods aligned across the global network. Whether it's a boutique brand building its first laundry formula or a regional manufacturer with no lab of its own, IFF's channel partners help close the gap between innovation and impact.

India investigates global fragrance giants over price collusion, document shows. Reuters Last Updated: Aug 25, 2026, 06:22:00 PM IST Indian authorities are investigating global fragrance companies for alleged price collusion. This new case follows an ongoing probe into labor anti-poaching deals. The Competition Commission of India is examining cartelization in the fragrance sector. A previously drafted report was recalled due to commercial secret redaction issues. The market for flavors and fragrances in India is projected to grow significantly. NEW DELHI - Global fragrance makers Givaudan, Firmenich and International Flavors & Fragrances face a second antitrust investigation by Indian authorities, according to a regulatory document seen by Reuters. The latest case relates to alleged price collusion since 2024, said a source close to the matter, and follows an ongoing investigation into accusations that the companies struck labour anti-poaching deals. The companies have faced similar investigations over prices charged to their customers in foreign markets. The companies have said they are cooperating with global anti-cartel investigations. You May Like The confidential Competition Commission of India (CCI) document seen by Reuters was dated July 22 and described the new case as one related to "alleged cartelisation in the Indian fragrance industry" by the three companies. The CCI, Swiss-based Givaudan and U.S. rival IFF did not respond to requests for comment on Tuesday. DSM-Firmenich, formed from the 2023 merger of Dutch speciality chemicals maker DSM with Firmenich, also did not respond. Swiss and British antitrust regulators said in 2023 that they were investigating the three companies, and the European Commission has said it is looking into "possible collusion" related to supply of fragrances and their ingredients but has not named any targets. Report recalled over unredacted secrets. Details of price-fixing cases are not made public in India during the course of investigations. In the case related to price collusion, the CCI teams drafted an investigation report with its findings and shared it with the companies in February, the watchdog's internal July 22 document showed. But that report was recalled in July after Givaudan and IFF complained that their commercial secrets were not properly redacted, according to the CCI document. The report will now need to be redrafted by the CCI, with the confidential information properly redacted, potentially slowing the two-year-old case. "From a systemic perspective this will be of concern to CCI," said Gautam Shahi, an Indian antitrust lawyer at Dua Associates. "Loss of relevant commercially sensitive data may harm competition in the market." India's flavours and fragrances market is expected to reach $5 billion by 2033, versus $2.5 billion in 2024, according to Grand View Research.
