Eurogate orders four Automated Stacking Cranes from Konecranes for its terminal in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.

Eurogate orders four Automated Stacking Cranes from Konecranes for its terminal in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. Konecranes has received an order from Eurogate Terminal Solutions GmbH for four Automated Stacking Cranes (ASCs) for Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven (CTW) in Germany. The order was booked in Q3 2026, and the handover is scheduled for the second quarter of 2028. The agreement also includes an option for an additional four ASCs for Eurogate's Container Terminal Hamburg. The order supports Eurogate's ongoing research and development efforts in terminal automation. The concept integrates the Automated Stacking Cranes (ASCs) with terminal's existing equipment to enable automated container transport. The project extends a long-standing relationship between Eurogate and Konecranes, which has supplied straddle carrier solutions to Eurogate's German terminals for over five decades. As part of its terminal automation strategy, Eurogate is adopting a supplier-agnostic approach in which terminal equipment suppliers integrate with the equipment control system (ECS). Konecranes was selected to provide Automated Stacking Cranes based on its proven in-house automation expertise and ability to fulfill operational and technical requirements. "Konecranes has demonstrated a strong willingness to support ETS-MT in further developing our operations and accompanying us on our journey towards automated yard operations. With their proven, highly available crane concept, we are confident that we can meet our technological and operational demands," said Axel Jachens, Project Manager, Eurogate Technical Services GmbH. "Eurogate is an important customer for Konecranes, and as the industry moves toward increasingly automated operations, we are delighted to support Eurogate's long-term development with solutions that combine proven automation technology, operational efficiency and openness to customer-specific system architectures," said Lasse Merenheimo, Vice President, Konecranes. Konecranes Automated Stacking Cranes are designed for high-density container yard operations and are based on a globally standardized platform with more than 600 units delivered or in operation worldwide. The cranes feature Konecranes Active Load Control technology, which improves handling precision and stability through integrated load-sway prevention and positioning control. The in-house ASC automation design being delivered to Eurogate is also intended to support integration with complex terminal automation environments and multi-vendor operating systems. Path to Port Automation Konecranes' Path to Port Automation offers container terminals a comprehensive, step-by-step roadmap to full automation, improving the productivity and safety of their equipment, regardless of the brand, in manageable steps at their own pace. Commissioning four new monorails at Cenovus Christina Lake.

Commissioning four new monorails at Cenovus Christina Lake. Its team is currently at Cenovus Christina Lake commissioning four new monorails added to existing buildings. These monorails are installed to simplify the maintenance on process tank-mixer operations by eliminating the need for roof access with mobile cranes. This marks the small but final role in a joint effort that began with sales and concept development, continued through engineering and erection, and now concludes with commissioning. Robustengineering is pleased to have partnered with Konecranes Canada and Jrod Steelworks throughout this project. While its contribution may be insignificant at the macro level of a major industrial site, it is critical at the micro level. Its work ensures that this specific equipment is safe and that the crews who rely upon it can do so with full confidence. What's your reaction? 3Good! 0Bad!

Konecranes debuts "Twist-Verify" 3D Laser Profiling for boxhunter reach stackers.

Konecranes debuts "Twist-Verify" 3D Laser Profiling for boxhunter reach stackers. Sep 19, 2026. Konecranes has introduced the "Twist-Verify" system for its Boxhandler reach stackers. In busy intermodal rail yards and seaports, operators must engage the twist-locks of 40-ton shipping containers stacked 5-high. Visibility is frequently compromised by fog, rain, and darkness. If the operator lowers the spreader and the twist-locks are misaligned with the container's corner castings, the massive hydraulic down-pressure of the spreader can shear off the lock housings or dent the container roof. The Twist-Verify system integrates "Miniature Laser Profiling Sensors" into each of the four twist-lock housings on the spreader head. The engineering breakthrough is the "Real-Time Castin Alignment." As the spreader descends toward the container, the lasers project a precise contour map of the corner castings. The ECU analyzes the distance and lateral offset of each of the four corners simultaneously. If the spreader is tilted or laterally misaligned by more than 20 millimeters, the system automatically halts the descent hydraulic circuit, preventing the physical collision of the locks. The ECU then commands the spreader's hydraulic yaw and side-shift cylinders to micro-adjust the spreader's position in 3D space, perfectly aligning all four twist-locks with the container castings. Only when all four lasers confirm a positive geometric match does the system allow the descent to continue and the locks to engage. This automated 3D verification eliminates blind-container structural damage and reduces twist-lock replacement costs by 90%. No Information
