Chipotle is bringing its Margaritas back to select cities. The company offered the cocktail across much of its system in the early 2010s but gradually began pulling back in 2018. Alicia Kelso, Executive Editor, Nation's Restaurant News September 28, 2026 Chipotle is hosting a five-city popup tour featuring the return of its Margaritas Chipotle began teasing a Margarita launch on its social media channels Sunday, including an Instagram post with the caption, "who said chipotle margarita 3 times." Now we know why. The fast-casual chain today announced a five-city "Summon the Spirits Tour" leading up to its annual Boorito promotion. The tour will bring $6 margaritas to one Chipotle restaurant every weekend in October, with stops in Denver, New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, and New Orleans for a limited time. Customers have been clamoring for the return of Chipotle's Margaritas on social media for years, made with premium tequila, triple sec, citrus juice, agave nectar, and a lime wedge. "Fans never stopped talking about our margaritas after they left the menu, so Halloween felt like the perfect time to revive a Chipotle classic," Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing Stephenie Perdue said in a statement. "For five weekends, we're giving fans the chance to rediscover the iconic Chipotle Margarita, made with just five real ingredients and the same simplicity we bring to our food." The popup tour includes Margaritas, Halloween décor, interactive experiences, and Chipotle prizes. The $6 margaritas will be available at one Chipotle restaurant every Friday and Saturday throughout October. The schedule is as follows: * Denver, Colorado, Oct. 2-3, 3 p.m.-9 p.m. local time, 2760 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver * New York, New York, Oct. 9-10, 3 p.m.-9 p.m., 185 Montague St., Brooklyn, NY * Dallas, Texas, Oct. 16-17, 3 p.m.-9 p.m., 2401 Victory Park Lane, Dallas * Los Angeles, California, Oct. 23-24, 3 p.m.-9 p.m., 7660 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles * New Orleans, Louisiana, Oct. 30-31, 3 p.m.-9 p.m., 2801 Magazine St., New Orleans. "The Summon the Spirits Tour" will build anticipation throughout October for Chipotle's annual Boorito tradition, which returns on Halloween with an in-restaurant entrée offer. A select number of Chipotle locations already serve alcohol, typically beer and Margaritas, depending on whether the restaurant has a liquor license. In the early naughts, many restaurants offered alcohol, and by 2010, the company's annual report said most restaurants offered beer and Margaritas. In 2013, Chipotle introduced a Patrón Margarita made-to-order with premium tequila and fresh juices at most of its restaurants. That same year, beer and Margarita sales contributed up to 2% of sales and drove higher check averages and dinner traffic. By 2018, however, just 50% of locations served alcohol and that number continued to decline as some restaurants stopped renewing liquor licenses. Because liquor licensing varies by state and municipality, alcohol availability is sporadic in the fast-casual category overall. Shake Shack, Fuzzy's Taco Shop, and Freebirds World Burrito are just a few brands offering alcohol at some of their locations. For Chipotle, this latest launch comes as the company pushes the gas on menu innovation to drive traffic and sales. In July, CEO Scott Boatwright said Chipotle plans to add more side items, as well as two more limited-time protein dishes, while also increasing its presence in beverages, which is the fastest-growing category in the industry. "There's significant opportunity in beverage, and we are running down a path today to really capitalize on what's happening in beverage," Boatwright said. "We have expanded the team on culinary to address this challenge of driving thoughtful menu innovation - not just pantry items, but new news. We're running down center-of-the-plate items. We have teams working on beverage, on sides, on desserts. We've stage-gated some really big ideas that have merit and that you could see on the calendar maybe back half of '26 but certainly in 2027." Construction wrapped on two more Chipotle locations! Two more Chipotle Mexican Grill projects are officially complete, with new locations in Cambridge, MN, and Menomonie, WI While these two projects are the latest additions, its relationship with Chipotle goes back much further. In 1999, a member of the Strack team helped build the Chipotle location in St. Cloud, MN, which was just the fifth Chipotle location in the state at the time. Since then, that relationship has continued to grow through countless projects, partnerships, and successful openings. Today, there are more than 95 Chipotle locations across Minnesota, and the Strack team has been fortunate to play a part in that growth. With more than 23 brand new Chipotle projects completed over the years, plus countless renovations, its experience with the brand has given its team a deep understanding of what it takes to successfully deliver these projects from planning and coordination through construction and closeout. Long-lasting relationships like this are built on trust, integrity, consistency, and delivering for its partners project after project. Strack Construction Co is grateful for the continued trust Chipotle has placed in the Strack team and look forward to continuing the relationship for years to come. Strack Construction Co is also continuing to grow its team. Strack is looking for talented Project Managers and Superintendents who want to be part of a team with a strong track record, deep industry experience, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
West Ceres commercial project approved with one being Chipotle. - Oil change, 1 more fast-food, retail building part of project Jeff Benziger Managing editor Published: Sep 23, 2026, 11:39 AM The Ceres Planning Commission on Monday voted 3-0 to approve a project of four standalone commercial buildings, one of which will be for Chipotle, on nearly four acres along Whitmore Avenue on the west side of Ceres. The proposed Ceres E. Whitmore Shopping Center Project consists of a mix of commercial uses, including two fast-food restaurants, a multi-tenant retail building and a quick oil-change center. If developed the project will be constructed between the Dutch Bros coffee kiosk to the west and Mister Car Wash to the east. The development is intended to provide additional retail, restaurant and service options along the Whitmore Avenue corridor while maintaining compatibility with surrounding commercial and residential uses. The project consists of: * A 6,786-square-foot multi-tenant retail building with 34 parking stalls. * A 2,794-square-foot, 56-seat fast-food restaurant with a drive-through and 29 parking stalls. * A 1,282-square-foot quick oil-change service facility with eight parking stalls. * A 2,361-square-foot, 56-seat Chipotle restaurant with a drive-through and 32 parking stalls To build the project, the developer has to seek a General Plan Amendment (GPA) and rezoning of the property from Office (O) uses and zoned Planned Community-Administrative Professional (PC-AP) to Community Commercial (C-2). While the lots can be individually owned, they will operate as one integrated commercial center with internal circulation between lots. The project will have two access points along the south side of Whitmore Avenue. While the city believes there is adequate space for the cuing of vehicles in drive-thru lanes, the site will be monitored. A six-foot masonry wall will be required to separate the uses from residential lots backing up to the businesses. If it becomes a reality, the four buildings would fill out the last remaining vacant space along Whitmore Avenue. To the east are a McDonald's, Flyer's Gas Station and Mister Car Wash. To the west of the site are a Dutch Bros, O'Reilly's Auto Parts and a Dollar General. City Engineer Michael Beltran was asked about planned improvements to Whitmore Avenue and explained that there will be four lanes with two going each direction. However, he said the widening will not take place and there will be a bottleneck at the Tidewater tracks since the railroad demanded the city pay for $5 million to $7.5 million in crossing improvements. Beltran also noted that medians will be installed to prevent dangerous left-hand turns coming out of the project, forcing motorists to use the Morgan or Malik traffic signals. In other action the commission approved a two-year time extension for the Hackett Road Tentative Subdivision Map at 1947 1/2 Hackett Road. Harinder Toor explained that interest rates have placed a clamp on building. On August 19, 2024, the Planning Commission approved the subdividing of approximately 3.25 acres into 16 residential lots. The approved subdivision includes an extension of Aarvig Lane and a new cul-de-sac, Inderjit Court. "The project does not pencil out so we just have to kick the can down the street and come back at a future date where rates are attractive," Toor told the commission. Commissioners Bob Gobble and Francisco Mireles were absent.
