Requirements
  • Experience with electromigration, static error band, failure in time, self-heating effect, and thermal methodologies and calculations.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree and 10 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
  • Define and architect comprehensive electromigration, static error band, and thermal methodologies, and drive their deployment across multiple advanced-node designs with minimal oversight.
  • Lead development of customized electromigration, static error band, and thermal solutions that scale to address accuracy and capacity challenges, while establishing best practices and design guidelines.
  • Own and drive the entire electromigration, static error band, and thermal flow from concept through sign-off, including automation, quality metrics, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the technical authority and primary point of contact for Physical Design and Integration, Clock and Signal Integrity, Circuit Design, Power, Package, System, and Technology teams on electromigration and failure-in-time requirements and trade-offs.
  • Independently develop, validate, and maintain electromigration and thermal rule decks and verification methodologies for clock trees, high-speed data paths, and critical signal nets across multiple projects.
  • Drive technical engagement with electronic design automation vendors and foundries for tool qualification, model development, enhancement requests, and roadmap alignment.
  • Establish and lead correlation studies between electromigration analysis tools and silicon failure-analysis data, and drive methodology improvements based on the findings.
  • Mentor entry-level engineers on electromigration, static error band, and thermal analysis techniques and best practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency in at least one of Tcl, Python, and/or Perl scripting languages.
  • Experience in at least one of the analysis areas involved in electromigration: extraction, timing, simulation, electromigration modeling, physical design, or physical verification.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Voltus, Voltus-Fi, RedHawk-SC, or Totem electromigration and IR-drop tools.
  • Hands-on experience with analysis, optimization, and debugging of IR, IVD, and electromigration issues on high-performance, large-scale designs and silicon.
  • Familiarity with advanced packaging technologies, including 2.5D, 3D, and 3.5D integrated circuits, and their unique electromigration challenges.
  • Expertise in artificial intelligence and machine-learning-driven innovation for computer-aided design workflows.
  • Experience developing large-scale software in multi-user, multi-site environments.
  • Ability to coordinate and drive initiatives with little to no oversight.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Qualcomm's Apple patent renewal secures $1.28B licensing revenue despite modem shift

Qualcomm has renewed its global patent licensing agreement with Apple, effective from 1 April 2027. Despite Apple developing its own modems and reducing chip purchases from Qualcomm, the iPhone maker will continue paying royalties to use Qualcomm's wireless technology patents. Qualcomm's licensing unit generated $1.28 billion last quarter at a 69% margin. The company's automotive revenue reached $1.59 billion, up 61%, marking its 23rd consecutive quarter of double-digit growth. Management expects non-handset growth to accelerate from 24% in fiscal 2026 to over 60% in fiscal 2027. Qualcomm shares trade at 15.34 times free cash flow, compared to Broadcom's approximate 43 times multiple. The company generated $12.82 billion in free cash flow in fiscal 2025 and returned $12.60 billion to shareholders. However, handset revenue fell 20% to $5.09 billion, with Android revenue expected to decline 20% this year.

Apple CEO Ternus eyes faster product releases and management cuts

Apple CEO John Ternus is exploring a faster, more flexible product strategy, potentially moving away from the company's traditional spring and autumn release schedule, Bloomberg reported. The chief executive, who succeeded Tim Cook earlier this month, is also considering reducing management layers to enable direct interaction between engineers and senior leaders. Meta's AI agent Muse threatens Apple's ecosystem as BofA warns of user intent interception risk

Bank of America has identified a new competitive threat to Apple from Meta Platforms' AI agent, Muse. The analyst warns that AI agents like Muse could intercept iPhone users' intent before Apple's own software, potentially undermining discovery, referral, and transaction economics within Apple's ecosystem.
