About the job

Requirements
  • Experience leveraging integration of AI capabilities into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving, such as using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
  • At least 6 years of combined experience in security, software engineering, or applied research, including at least 2 years working hands-on with AI/ML or LLM-based systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of agent harness security seams, including system prompt and context construction, the tool-calling loop, context window management and compaction, sub-agent delegation, sandboxing, and execution boundaries.
  • Working knowledge of agent memory and retrieval systems, including what persists, who can write to it, and how it is read back, along with orchestration frameworks, tool protocols such as MCP, and their failure modes.
  • Depth in at least one security domain: application security, offensive security, authorization and identity, or detection engineering; ability to reason in terms of attacker capability, preconditions, and attack chains rather than checklists.
  • Practical understanding of AI-specific threats, including prompt, tool, and goal hijacking; indirect injection through retrieved content; memory poisoning and adversarial instruction persistence across sessions; insecure agent configurations; cross-session and cross-tenant data leakage; OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications; and MITRE ATLAS.
  • Proficiency in Python sufficient to independently build and ship working systems.
  • Ability to take an ambiguous problem statement to a working artifact, own it end to end, and abandon it when evidence shows it does not work.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical business users and technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze the security of AI agent systems, including how the harness assembles context and drives the tool-calling loop, how agents plan and delegate, what they persist to memory, and how they respond to untrusted input, and identify how adversaries could subvert them.
  • Design and build security controls for agentic systems, including static analysis of agent and tool configurations, runtime policy enforcement, behavioral detection, and mitigations for tool and goal hijacking.
  • Build working prototypes end to end, then partner with engineering to harden those that prove effective.
  • Threat model new AI architectures and features before they ship, and turn findings into concrete controls.
  • Red-team the organization's agents and defenses, including testing for indirect prompt injection, tool abuse, privilege escalation across agent boundaries, and data exfiltration through model and tool channels.
  • Build repeatable evaluations and benchmarks to measure whether controls hold as models and products change.
  • Track offensive and defensive AI security research, assess its practical significance, and identify implications for the roadmap.
  • Advise product and platform teams building agentic features on secure design, and increase the team's collective depth in AI security.
  • Publish internal research, patents, and external talks where appropriate.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience building systems that make and enforce security decisions at runtime.
  • Experience building static or dynamic analysis tooling.
  • Experience with AI red-teaming, adversarial machine learning, or evaluating models and guardrails at scale.
  • Published security or AI research, patents, CVEs, or meaningful open-source contributions.

What believers are saying

  • Subscriptions grew: ServiceNow reported $3.877 billion in subscription revenue for the June 2026 quarter, up 24.5% year over year.
  • Hybrid work is established: ServiceNow says most staff have flexible arrangements, requiring two or more office days weekly.
  • Security work expanded: the April 2026 Armis acquisition added protection for industrial equipment, medical devices, and connected hardware.

What critics are saying

  • Subscription margins narrowed: in June 2026, ServiceNow kept 73.5% of subscription revenue after direct costs, versus 80% a year earlier.
  • Remote roles limit relocation: ServiceNow requires staff to remain within their employment state, province, region, or country.
  • Older versions lose support: ServiceNow supports two release families and schedules upgrades for customers who fall behind.

What makes ServiceNow unique

  • Customers get separated systems: ServiceNow assigns each customer its own software instance and database, unlike shared tenant designs.

ServiceNow's $7.75B Armis bet faces first test as it aims to be No. 1 in security

ServiceNow spent about $7.75 billion in cash on Armis as it aims to lead enterprise security. Chief executive officer Bill McDermott said on September 9 that the company is "now the eighth largest with an ambition to be #1." The company reports third-quarter results after the close on October 28, its first earnings since that claim. Investors will look for a disclosed security growth rate. BNP Paribas estimates security and risk could reach about $1.5 billion in annual contract value, growing 30% to 40%. ServiceNow has not confirmed this. Acquisitions are weighing on margins. Third-quarter guidance is an 8% GAAP operating margin against 31% non-GAAP. Revenue beat estimates in each of the last five quarters, yet the stock fell after the last three reports. Consensus expects revenue of about $4.09 billion, up about 20%.

ServiceNow CFO: Overwork doesn't make a better leader, recovery drives performance

ServiceNow president and chief financial officer Gina Mastantuono says overwork does not make a better leader. Speaking at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit, she said recovery is a prerequisite for high performance, not a distraction from it. She criticised the idea that 14-hour days and four hours of sleep show commitment. "That is such a terrible example for the people around us," she said. Prioritising recovery helped her listen more thoughtfully, stay composed under pressure, and improve her work-life balance. Fellow panellist Alicia Hatch of Deloitte said 94% of female C-suite executives played sports growing up. Deloitte projects global women's sports revenue will reach at least $3 billion in 2026, a 340% rise over four years.

Over 25% of S&P 500 stocks are down 40%+: four bargain tech picks, from Netflix to Oracle

More than 25% of S&P 500 stocks are down 40% or more from their highs, even with the index near record levels, as of October 8, 2026. The Motley Fool sees that as a chance to hunt for bargains in tech. It names four picks. Netflix trades at about 18.5 times 2027 analyst earnings estimates, and advertising should drive its growth. Oracle has a $664 billion backlog in cloud infrastructure, but carries heavy debt and burns cash. ServiceNow, hit by the 2026 software sell-off, trades at 7.5 times forward sales as it pushes into agentic AI. AppLovin trades at 13 times 2027 earnings estimates. Its revenue rose 53% last quarter to $1.9 billion.
