Nike shifts focus from Win Now growth to Pace, targeting $2.5B in savings as revenue falls

Nike has shifted its message from a return to growth to a change in how the company is run. On its fiscal Q1 2027 call, management promoted Pace, a programme meant to streamline decision-making and help Nike capture demand faster. Last year it stressed Win Now, a five-action plan to return to growth. Pace is expected to deliver about $2.5 billion in savings through fiscal 2031, mostly in fiscal 2029 and 2030. It should cost about $1 billion to put in place. Revenue fell 4.3% in the quarter. Management expects fiscal 2027 revenue to decline by a high single-digit percentage, with operating profit falling faster. NIKE Performance reached $16 billion last fiscal year and grew by high single digits again. Sportswear, just under half of quarterly revenue, fell by low double digits. Nike holds its Investor Day in November.

Cash beats debt: stronger balance sheets sit closer to 52-week highs in all five pairs

Companies with more cash than debt are holding up better as inflation hits 3.7%, the 10-year Treasury yields about 5.1%, and US oil tops $100 a barrel. An analysis of five industry pairs found the stronger company sat closer to its 52-week high in every case. In four, debt made the difference. Microsoft, with $20 billion of net cash, is 1.8% below its high. CoreWeave, with $46 billion of net debt, is 56.3% below. Exxon is 0.4% below its high, against 35.6% for American Airlines. Nucor trails its high by 4.9%, while Celanese trails by 30.8%. Alphabet is down 14.4%, while Charter, with $96 billion of net debt, is down 57.0%. Costco and Nike are the exception: Nike's gap stems from falling sales, not debt.

Supply x Nike Air Max Plus revealed for Surplus Sydney 2026.

Supply x Nike Air Max Plus revealed for Surplus Sydney 2026. Published on Oct 17, 2026 Supply has teamed up with Nike on a new Air Max Plus made for Surplus Sydney 2026. The event is back for its second year in Australia, where the TN has been popular for years. Homerun had its own Air Max Plus at last year's festival, and Supply is handling this year's version. - Advertisement - The Supply x Nike Air Max Plus features a mostly black upper with different details on each side. The medial side keeps things fairly simple, while the lateral side features a large Swoosh extending from the upper down onto the midsole. Oversized lettering covers the heel, and light blue accents appear on the co-branded tongue and heel badges. The visible Air units also have a faint blue tint that breaks up the darker color scheme. Surplus Sydney 2026 will also feature an early release of the Carhartt WIP x Nike Air Max Goadome Low. Both collaborations are part of the special footwear lineup planned for this year's festival. The Supply x Nike Air Max Plus is expected to release exclusively at Surplus Sydney in October 2026. A wider release outside Australia has not been confirmed.

Nike bets on India with Bengaluru campus as China revenue falls 26%

Nike will build a new global campus in Bengaluru, India, which it calls a "long-term investment." Chief executive officer Elliott Hill announced the plan on October 1 alongside fiscal first-quarter earnings. The campus is due to open in the next few years and will house corporate roles across Nike, Jordan Brand, and Converse. The move comes as Nike tries to turn its business around. Revenue in Greater China fell 26% in the quarter, and the company is cutting jobs under its Pace strategy, which it expects to save about $2.5 billion through fiscal 2031. Experts are split. Guggenheim Securities' Simeon Siegel said India could offer a more sustainable future, while retail adviser Jessica Ramirez said it is no immediate fix. Nike says it is not an "either/or decision" between India and China.

Nike resale share rises to 72.3% in September, led by Jordan, despite revenue decline

Nike's share of athletic footwear resale volume rose to 72.3% in September 2026, with its Jordan brand driving most of the gain, according to Citi data. The figure is up 63 basis points from August. It also beats Nike's 70.8% average from June to August. It remains below the 77.0% peak of October 2023, when Citi began tracking the data. The gain contrasts with Jordan's sales. In its first-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings report, Nike said Jordan revenue fell by a mid-teens percentage year on year. Resale share reflects secondary-market trading, not Nike's direct sales, so higher resale activity does not necessarily mean stronger revenue.
