Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The candidate must be able to pass a background check.
  • The final composition must include classified and certified staff, as well as tenured and non-tenured staff where possible.
  • Applicants must self-nominate under the applicable staff category and apply by emailing the Principal.
  • The role must be performed in addition to the regular duty day.
Responsibilities
  • Attend biweekly Building Advisory Group meetings outside instructional hours, with a minimum of 30 minutes per session.
  • Actively participate in team discussions supporting school climate, operations, and instructional initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison for staff input on issues affecting school operations and improvement efforts.
  • Organize a rotational roster and ensure at least one Building Advisory Group member, in addition to the Principal, is present at every School Advisory Council meeting.
  • Model collaboration, professionalism, and commitment to shared leadership.
  • Complete required documentation, including meeting notes, agendas, and activity reports, as applicable.
  • Comply with applicable North Slope Borough School District policies, procedures, and expectations related to staff leadership roles.
  • Fulfill the Building Advisory Group Added Duty Contract, including submitting an activity report, an Added Duty Contract narrative, and photos if available.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Alaska driver's license is preferred.
