Jamf unveils AI governance tools for Apple devices. Wed, 7th Oct 2026 (Today) Jamf has unveiled new AI governance, automation and programming tools for managing Apple devices in the workplace, extending its platform across Mac, iPhone and iPad fleets. The updates include controls for monitoring AI tools on managed Macs, new APIs and Terraform support for infrastructure teams, and automated workflows for software deployment, diagnostics and device health. Jamf also outlined browser-based AI oversight, mobile AI controls, and new support for frontline and bring-your-own-device use cases. At the centre of the announcement is an expanded AI Governance product line, which Jamf introduced earlier this year. Organisations can now discover AI tools running across managed Macs, apply rules on their use, and generate reports for internal oversight and regulatory reviews. Several other AI governance features are due later, including deeper investigation tools that trace flagged activity to a device, user and command line. Jamf also plans to add estimates of AI usage and cost by user, device, tool, model and provider, based on token consumption and published pricing, without capturing prompts or responses. Another planned addition would extend those controls into web browsers, allowing employers to identify use of personal AI accounts and apply restrictions when workers attempt actions such as uploading company files through browser-based AI services. Jamf is also extending its platform to support on-device AI workloads on Apple hardware, with administrators able to deploy local models and inference engines through Blueprints. A separate mobile AI governance feature is intended to detect, monitor and block AI use in native apps and browsers on mobile devices. "IT teams are managing more endpoints and more complexity than ever, and now that includes the AI tools running on those same devices," said Beth Tschida, Chief Executive Officer at Jamf. "We want Jamf to handle more of that routine work automatically, saving admins time while giving them real visibility into what AI is actually doing across that fleet. That's the idea behind everything we're building because AI runs better on Apple, and Apple runs better on Jamf," Tschida said. Programmable platform Beyond AI oversight, Jamf is widening access to its platform for developers and infrastructure teams. A new Platform API Gateway gives users one place to manage access across Jamf APIs, including Blueprints APIs, the Compliance Benchmark API and Device APIs. These interfaces are designed to let customers and partners create, update and deploy Blueprints, check compliance against defined benchmarks, and manage device data through software rather than manual configuration. Jamf has also launched a Terraform provider, allowing teams to manage the platform through code with version control and rollback processes. Jamf is also moving Routines to a Jamf-hosted automation engine. The change is intended to provide more visibility into automations, access to more than 1,500 integrations, and greater control over where data is held. Routine tasks Jamf is adding more automation to day-to-day endpoint management. Through Blueprints, administrators will be able to select from a catalogue of Mac applications and have Jamf install them and keep them updated automatically. Self Service+ is set to gain a diagnostics feature that lets employees ask questions about device problems and receive explanations and suggested fixes that they can approve themselves. Jamf is also preparing a device health tool that assesses indicators such as memory use, battery condition and crashes to flag Macs that may need attention. For software rollouts, Jamf plans to add Automated Ring Deployments, letting organisations test updates with a pilot group, pause wider deployment if issues appear, and then expand the release after approval. It is also preparing an Apple-native data loss prevention feature that discovers sensitive data, tracks its movement across the operating system and applies policy controls. Mobile features On mobile devices, Jamf has introduced Jamf Device Checker, which gives frontline workers a way to confirm whether a device is ready for use and to resolve issues directly. App Insights is also being expanded with a broader app library and AI-related visibility, showing which apps use AI locally or through cloud services. For shift-based workforces, Jamf is developing Jamf Tap, which uses RFID or NFC employee badges to assign a device and sign workers into their applications automatically. BYOD support for iOS and Android is also now available, allowing IT teams to separate personal and work data and remove only the work profile when an employee leaves. Jamf said it now supports more than 35 million devices across more than 78,000 organisations.
Discern Security has partnered with Jamf to provide AI asset discovery for managed Mac fleets. The integration, now available on the Jamf Marketplace, enables organisations to identify AI and Shadow AI assets across their Apple devices using existing Jamf data combined with intelligence from identity, email, vulnerability management, and compliance tools. The solution uses Jamf Pro data and adds five checks via extension attributes to detect local AI model runtimes, command-line AI tools, AI browser extensions, and applications with microphone or screen recording permissions. No additional endpoint software is required, as it operates through a read-only API and the existing Jamf agent. Discern Security raised $13 million in Series A funding led by Forgepoint Capital in July 2026. Jamf currently serves over 78,000 organisations managing more than 35 million devices globally.
Jamf expands partnership with Mac Admins Foundation as Visionary Sponsor of global conference grants. Sponsorship widens grant access for early-career admins and first-time conference attendees around the world KANSAS CITY - September 24, 2026 - Jamf, the standard in managing and securing Apple at work, today announced its Visionary Sponsorship of the Mac Admins Foundation (MAF) Community and Conference Grant Program. This marks an expanded partnership with the 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the global community of Apple administrators. Announced at the 2026 Jamf Nation User Conference (JNUC), the partnership will help more admins attend community conferences around the world. "You've heard us say it before; this is the greatest community in tech. There's no place where that's on display more than at community conferences," said Jake Bernardy, Vice President of Global Customer Success at Jamf. "The goal of this program is to help admins participate in events they wouldn't otherwise be able to attend. It's one thing to watch sessions online or engage virtually. It's another to have a chance to join the hallway track, have lunch with peers from around the world, and for people to meet face-to-face who have helped each other solve real problems virtually." Growing together Jamf and the Mac admin community have grown together for more than two decades, since Jamf launched Jamf Nation to provide a permanent home for industry admins. This week, the community's passion for both Apple and Jamf is on display at the JNUC in Kansas City, Missouri, where the event's 17th gathering welcomed Apple admins from around the world. "It's incredibly rewarding to see the community come together at admin conferences on a global scale," said Jeni Asaba, Head of Community, Jamf. "There's such a willing spirit to share knowledge and support each other's growth within the community. Through this sponsorship we'll be able to create more of these meaningful experiences." Jamf was a founding sponsor when the Mac Admins Foundation launched in 2022. Its Visionary Sponsorship today builds on that history. The sponsorship extends Jamf's support beyond its own events to community gatherings worldwide, including conferences like the MacAdmins Conference at Penn State, MacAD.UK, Mac Admins Europe, MacSysAdmin, and many others. As Jamf prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2027, it continues to invest in the community that fuels the industry. "For new Mac admins, attending a conference in person creates a unique opportunity not only to gain knowledge but also to connect with others in the field who become colleagues, mentors, and friends," said Mac Admins Foundation Co-Chair Chris Dawe. "Funding conference attendance for early-career professionals is a key way to grow the community and ensure its vitality, and we are thrilled that Jamf feels the same." Keep Aware has been acquired by Jamf. Ryan Boerner Founder & CEO September 23, 2026 Austin, Texas, September 23, 2026 Today, I'm excited to share that Keep Aware has been acquired by Jamf. Keep Aware started Keep Aware with a simple conviction: the browser was becoming one of the most important places where work happens, yet organizations had very little visibility into what was actually happening there. IT teams could manage and deploy the browser. Security teams could protect the endpoint, network, identity, and applications around it. But as work moved toward SaaS and web applications, more of the activity that mattered was happening inside the browser itself. AI has accelerated that shift. Every organization is now working out what AI means for its business, and governance remains an open question for most of them. They need a way to understand which tools are in use, which identities sit behind them, where company data is moving, and where real controls are needed without blocking a technology that could fundamentally improve how people work. The browser is the surface where all of this converges. It is where someone reaches an AI tool, where an unsanctioned app gets signed into with a work identity, where an extension gets added without anyone reviewing what it can do, and where modern attacks like ClickFix arrive as a deceptive prompt rather than software anyone installs. Very little of this shows up in the places IT and security have traditionally looked. Seeing that surface clearly is what makes it possible to set boundaries specific enough to be useful. That has been the direction of Keep Aware from the beginning: give organizations a clear view of how work happens in the browser while letting people keep using the browsers and applications they already prefer. Controls that create too much friction eventually get routed around. That's a product decision as much as a philosophical one. Jamf shares this conviction. For more than two decades, Jamf has helped organizations manage and secure Apple devices without degrading the experience that made people want those devices in the first place. That is a harder balance to maintain than it sounds, and it is a big part of why IT teams trust them. Plenty of vendors say management, security, and user experience can coexist. Jamf is one of the few companies that has proved it. That approach extends one layer further. Bringing the endpoint and browser together gives organizations a clearer picture of what their fleet is actually being used for and where the sanctioned stack is being worked around. Those are security questions as often as they're IT, licensing, and support questions. Jamf is announcing the acquisition and their forward-looking strategy for AI governance at JNUC 2026. To the customers, partners, and investors who believed in Keep Aware along the way, thank you. You gave Keep Aware the opportunity, feedback, support, and trust to turn an idea into something real. That work continues, now with considerably more resources behind it. And most importantly, to the Keep Aware team: this moment is a reflection of what you built. The product, the trust of its customers, and the reputation Keep Aware has earned are a direct result of the care and persistence this team brought to the work. Keep Aware saw this shift early and built for it before it was obvious. Together with Jamf, Keep Aware will take that idea much further, for many more organizations, than Keep Aware could have on its own. There is a lot left to build. Ryan Boerner CEO, Keep Aware About Keep Aware Keep Aware is at the forefront of securing the browser, delivering deep visibility and browser detection and response across every work and AI browser. Built on an observability-first foundation, Keep Aware Browser Security protects GenAI usage, detects modern browser-native attacks, and secures how work actually happens, all without disrupting productivity. About Jamf Jamf's purpose is to simplify work by helping organizations manage and secure Apple devices while delivering an experience end users love and organizations trust. Transaction Advisors Boston Meridian Partners acted as financial advisor to Keep Aware. DuBois, Bryant & Campbell acted as legal counsel to Keep Aware. Boerner, a computer engineer turned cybersecurity practitioner, began as a SOC analyst tackling network threats across Texas agencies. Specializing in network and email security, he later honed his expertise at IBM and Darktrace, working with organizations of all sizes. Seeing a critical gap between security teams and employees - where strong defenses still let threats through - he founded Keep Aware to make the browser a cornerstone of enterprise security. From admin to architect: Jamf's vision for the autonomous Apple enterprise. Sep 23, 2026 4 mins AI was front and center at Jamf's big event for Apple IT. Now a private company, Jamf opened its big annual event for Apple enterprise management teams, JNUC, by taking big steps to exploit artificial intelligence in the management of Apple fleets. During her keynote speech at the Kansas City event, CEO Beth Tschida shared some of the details of the platform-scale overhaul the company has set in motion. "IT teams are managing more endpoints and more complexity than ever," she said. "We want Jamf to handle more of that routine work automatically... because AI runs better on Apple, and Apple runs better on Jamf." Tschida - and Jamf - have been consistent on the value of AI to IT, which played a major focus at last year's JNUC also. When I spoke with her, she was resolute on the need for IT to engage with the tech, telling me, "AI is happening whether organizations know it or not. That's the problem. You can try to block it, but that's very hard to do well. It's far better to build visibility and governance around it." As you'll see, this is very much part of what Jamf at JNUC 2026 is working to achieve. AI, Apple, and IT. The combination is about exploiting AI support inherent to Apple's platforms to help reduce time-consuming IT tasks. It means that Apple device management in the future will be less about management and more about creating autonomous enterprise ecosystems in which the tech handles the routine tasks, while humans handle the strategy. Jamf's offerings now include a new AI-powered self-service diagnostics system. Employees will be able to troubleshoot their own devices by asking Jamf questions on their device, such as "Why are my video calls lagging?" and receive an immediate explanation and a one-click fix. Computerworld smart answers. Explore related questions. These improvements aren't confined to routine task automation. They also extend into AI governance. The company introduced its AI Governance suite earlier this year, and at JNUC announced new capabilities to help IT take control of shadow AI across their networks. A response to shadow AI. These include a centralized AI control panel which shows admins which AI systems are running across their fleet and lets them enforce usage policies and also generate audit-ready reports. The company is extending this into the Safari, Chrome, and Edge browsers, which means organizations can prevent the upload of corporate files to personal AI accounts through browsers on managed devices. It means that IT doesn't just see AI is being used but can identify which models are running and what the token costs are, while also being able to block corporate files from being uploaded to a personal account in Safari or Chrome. For security-conscious firms, Jamf is also enabling the deployment of local inference engines. That support means companies can run AI workloads directly on Apple hardware, ensuring that prompts and sensitive data never, ever leave the device. IT as a service. The transformation of IT means IT itself is becoming an application, and Jamf seems to be embracing this approach with a new Platform API Gateway and a Terraform provider. Together, these make it possible for IT teams to manage their entire Apple environment using "Infrastructure as Code." Think GitOps for admins, in which a change to the fleet becomes a peer-reviewed pull request, and a rollback becomes as simple as a click. Jamf also introduced Jamf Tap, its NFC/RFID system that lets frontline workers simply tap an ID badge to instantly assign the device and sign into necessary apps, aimed at streamlining things like shift changes in warehouses. Final announcements from the company included Ring Deployments, a rollout system that tests updates with a pilot group before expanding to the wider fleet, and a curated catalog that automatically installs and updates popular Mac apps. JNUC 2027 takes place in Anaheim, California, from October 26-28, 2027. It will mark the company's 25th anniversary.
