Requirements
  • About 3 years of experience creating or leading social video for a brand, creator, publisher, or agency.
  • A portfolio of videos the candidate has led, supported by performance numbers.
  • Experience creating paid social ad creative for Meta, YouTube, or TikTok and testing variants against performance metrics.
  • Understanding of how video supports lifecycle marketing, including email, retargeting, and onboarding.
  • Ability to explain how the YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram algorithms determine distribution and how that affects hooks, length, and retention.
  • Deep knowledge of short-form, long-form, and paid video formats.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or similar video-editing software.
  • Experience directing or giving feedback to other creatives or freelancers.
  • Daily use of AI tools for research, ideation, scripting, and editing.
  • Comfort with testing, iterating, and learning from performance data.
  • Interest in growing and helping build a larger team as the pod model scales.
Responsibilities
  • Run the pod day to day by owning the content calendar, setting priorities, and keeping output moving.
  • Own video strategy for the category across paid, organic social, and lifecycle content.
  • Build each category's full asset library, including finished videos, b-roll, GIFs, and images for paid, content, and lifecycle use.
  • Produce and test paid ad creative, including hooks, variants, and lengths, with the paid media team, and iterate based on results.
  • Create video for lifecycle touchpoints, including email, retargeting, and onsite journeys, with the lifecycle team.
  • Maintain a steady pipeline of video ideas based on what is working on YouTube, Shorts, TikTok, Reels, and Reddit.
  • Ensure every video has a clear platform and format, as well as a hook, before it goes to script.
  • Supervise and coach the host/script writer and video producer in person; review scripts, storyboards, and cuts.
  • Edit videos as needed, from quick social cut-downs to final polish.
  • Work with the video producer to set up the Tulsa studio and manage the bench of outside editors on Upwork.
  • Track performance weekly across organic, paid, and lifecycle content; stop what is not working and expand what is.
  • Document the pod's playbook, including formats, workflows, briefs, and quality assurance, so it can be replicated in new categories.
  • Collaborate with editorial, SEO, PR, paid media, and lifecycle teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • Comfort on camera and openness to hosting.
  • Experience with consumer, product review, or how-to content.

About the company

ConsumerAffairs is a consumer advocacy platform that helps people make informed decisions about products and services. It provides reviews, rate comparisons, and expert advice on topics like home warranties, mortgages, and other financial products. The platform does not issue loans or make credit decisions; instead it shows rates from licensed lenders and connects consumers with third-party providers. Revenue comes from affiliate marketing and lead generation, as the site earns commissions or fees when users connect with service providers. Its goal is to empower everyday consumers with trustworthy information and transparent comparisons, helping them choose financial products and services with confidence.

What believers are saying

  • ConsumerAffairs reported nearly 97% of Americans rely on online reviews in 2026.
  • 2026 partnerships with AdT, Sunrun, and Auto Approve show monetizable brand demand.
  • Its 2026 awards and Trend Micro scam alerts keep consumers returning for fresh guidance.

What critics are saying

  • Trustpilot, Yelp, and BBB contest the same review-intent traffic and advertiser budgets.
  • 2016 Icon Health lawsuit alleged pay-to-play manipulation; that accusation still taints trust.
  • If lenders and brands distrust rankings, affiliate revenue collapses within one sales cycle.

What makes ConsumerAffairs unique

  • ConsumerAffairs' verified-review moat still powers 2026 Buyer’s Choice Awards.
  • Its consumer news engine spans mortgages, recalls, scams, and major-purchase decisions.
  • SolarReviews acquisition in November 2023 broadened authority in solar comparison shopping.
