Requirements
  • At least 8 years of journalism experience, including multimedia storytelling, video editing, and video production experience at a major news organization or production company.
  • Experience creating original videos incorporating audio, video, still images, graphics, and text.
  • Excellent news judgment and reporting, with the ability to synthesize newsgathering and/or investigations into concise, informative, and engaging video in collaboration with colleagues and reporters.
  • Video editing skills using Adobe Premiere.
  • Facility with photo, video, audio, graphics, and animation in storytelling.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Senior Producer, the Video desk, and magazine editors to create video shows for the magazine.
  • Script, produce, edit, and publish a formatted series of vertical videos.
  • Work with cinematographers, video editors, and other internal and external collaborators to execute video projects.
  • Work with video leaders and magazine staff to ensure work follows newsroom standards.
  • Support and understand journalistic independence and demonstrate commitment to the mission of seeking the truth and helping people understand the world.
  • Report to the Senior Producer, Magazine in New York City.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to change within an unpredictable news and production environment.
  • Design and animation skills, including experience with Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects, and understanding of typography, layout, color, motion, and behavior.
  • Experience working collaboratively with members of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience producing shoots and interviewing experts on camera.
  • Passion for magazine journalism.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Experience making quick decisions under deadlines and in a high-pressure newsroom environment.
  • Links to video portfolios or work samples are required for application consideration.
