Bezos predicts 3-day workweek and single-income households as AI boosts productivity

Jeff Bezos predicts AI will enable three-day workweeks and a return to single-income households. Speaking to Fox News, the Amazon founder said AI-driven productivity will allow people to support their families whilst working fewer hours. Bezos suggested labour shortages may emerge as families no longer require two incomes. "It's going to be difficult to hire people, because the productivity in the economy will make it so that people don't want to work two jobs," he said. Amazon plans to spend over $200 billion on capital expenditures this year, largely for data centres, whilst cutting approximately 30,000 corporate roles since late last year. Bezos' net worth has reached $365 billion, boosted partly by Blue Origin's recent $10 billion funding round, which valued the space company at $140 billion.

Blue Origin to build $555M satellite factory in Texas, creating 2,000 jobs

Blue Origin will build a $555 million satellite manufacturing facility in Hutto, Texas, creating over 2,000 jobs within the next decade. The 1.3 million square foot campus, called Constellation Park, will produce satellites for TeraWave, the company's communications network capable of delivering 6 terabits per second, and support its Quartz ground network. Texas is providing an $18.2 million grant, whilst Williamson County approved a 10-year tax abatement. The jobs will pay an average annual salary of $88,000. Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos said Wednesday the company will likely pursue an IPO within several years. The firm's first funding round, targeting $10 billion at a $130 billion pre-money valuation, is oversubscribed.

Per today's press release from Blue Origin, the Hutto, Texas-based manufacturing complex will bring more than 2,000 jobs to Hutto over the next decade in support of Blue Origin's TeraWave multi-orbit space-based communications network and Quartz global ground communications network. "Texas has long understood what it takes to lead in space exploration," said Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp. "We're proud to grow our footprint here in Texas, tap into the world-class talent this state has to offer, and help ensure America remains the leader in space innovation." In addition to supporting manufacturing for TeraWave and expanding production for Quartz, the Constellation Park campus will house manufacturing for key Blue Origin subsystems, including solar arrays, avionics, telecommunications, and other satellite hardware, according to Blue Origin. Blue Origin's roots in Texas were established nearly 20 years ago, with the establishment of the company's Launch Site One in 2006. The company currently employs more than 550 people in the Lone Star State. Texas Governor Greg Abbott said: "Texas is the launchpad to a future of possibilities. Blue Origin's sizeable expansion of their investment in Texas in support of their satellite communications network is testament to the state's leadership in the advanced manufacturing and space industries. Texas offers innovative technology leaders the space, speed, and talent needed to rapidly scale operations."

Blue Origin announces massive Hutto expansion, more than 2,000 new jobs.

Blue Origin announces massive Hutto expansion, more than 2,000 new jobs. Aerospace company Blue Origin is expanding its operations in Central Texas with plans for a massive manufacturing campus in Hutto that is expected to create more than 2,000 jobs over the next decade. Gov. Greg Abbott announced the expansion Thursday, saying the company founded by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos will establish a 1.3-million-square-foot manufacturing complex called Constellation Park. The campus will serve as a major production hub for Blue Origin's satellite communications programs, including TeraWave, a planned satellite network designed to provide high-speed connectivity to businesses, data centers, and government agencies. The facility will also support production of Quartz, the company's ground communications network, along with solar arrays, avionics, telecommunications equipment, and other satellite hardware. Blue Origin says TeraWave is being developed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 terabits per second anywhere on Earth. "Texas has long understood what it takes to lead in space exploration," Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp said. "We're proud to grow our footprint here in Texas, tap into the world-class talent this state has to offer, and help ensure America remains the leader in space innovation." The company already employs more than 550 people in Texas and has operated Launch Site One in West Texas since 2006. The Hutto expansion will add more than 2,000 manufacturing and related positions over the next 10 years. The announcement follows months of local economic development discussions involving a proposed aerospace manufacturing project previously identified as Project Blue Hub. Earlier project documents outlined hundreds of millions of dollars in potential investment, along with plans for thousands of jobs in Hutto. Blue Origin develops rocket engines, reusable launch vehicles, lunar landers, and satellite systems. The company's expansion adds another major aerospace manufacturing operation to the growing technology and industrial sector in Williamson County.

Blue Origin selects Hutto for $555M aerospace manufacturing facility.

Blue Origin selects Hutto for $555M aerospace manufacturing facility. Published October 8, 2026 at 10:24 a.m. CT Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos' space technology company, will build an advanced manufacturing and operations campus in Hutto, the city and state of Texas announced Oct. 8. "Texas has long understood what it takes to lead in space exploration," Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp said in the state's release. "We're proud to grow our footprint here in Texas, tap into the world-class talent this state has to offer and help ensure America remains the leader in space innovation." The big picture. The project, called Constellation Park, represents a nearly $555 million capital investment and will create more than 2,000 jobs, according to a news release from Gov. Greg Abbott's office. Blue Origin will move into approximately 1.3 million square feet of space in the existing industrial park along Hwy. 79 between Innovation Boulevard and Alliance Boulevard, per releases from the city of Hutto and Blue Origin. The facility will be a production hub for satellite and communications technology. "Hutto is becoming an anchor point on the Hwy. 79 tech corridor," Mayor Mike Snyder said in the release. "Our policies and our approach to business are drawing in the kind of companies that create career opportunities, not just jobs. That's what it takes to build a place where people want to live, work and play." A closer look. To come to the site, Blue Origin received a Texas Enterprise Fund grant of more than $18 million and a $10,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus. Additionally, Williamson County, the city of Hutto and the Hutto Economic Development Corp. have extended incentives to Blue Origin. However, officials have said the terms of these deals will not be available until they are executed. City of Hutto leaders said in the news release this deal marks "one of the largest economic development wins in Hutto's history." "Every project we bring to Hutto is measured against the same goals: quality jobs, a diverse tax base and sustainable growth that benefits our residents," Cheney Gamboa, Hutto's director of economic development, said in the release. "Blue Origin checks every one of those boxes, and it's a strong step toward the kind of long-term economic stability we've been working to build for this community." One more thing. As part of the agreement, Blue Origin has committed to working with Hutto ISD to provide internships and support career and technical education programs. "Blue Origin's investment will have a ripple effect across Hutto and Williamson County, from job creation to opportunities for our schools and workforce to grow alongside a world-class aerospace company," Caitlin Morales, board chair of the Hutto Economic Development Corp., said in the release. "We're proud to have played a role in bringing this project home." What's next. The city stated that more information about the construction timeline, job opportunities and economic impact will be made available as the project progresses.
