Requirements
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related Engineering or Science discipline.
  • Experience across the valve lifecycle, including specification, design, procurement, qualification, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, or maintenance.
  • Experience working on complex projects within highly regulated industries such as Nuclear, Energy, Oil & Gas, Defence, Process, or Power Generation.
  • Strong understanding of engineering documentation, including technical specifications, equipment data sheets, calculations, testing records, and supplier deliverables.
  • Ability to assess technical issues, identify practical solutions, and support implementation.
  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and manage stakeholders.
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English, including the ability to produce clear technical documentation and present complex information to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical clarification on valve-related deliverables required for construction while working with back-office design teams and valve suppliers.
  • Gather, review, and assess engineering inputs, design assumptions, technical specifications, equipment data sheets, and supporting documentation.
  • Review valve design documentation for compliance with project requirements, nuclear codes, and applicable standards.
  • Carry out valve engineering assessments covering functional and operational reviews, operational requirements, qualification and environmental requirements, and design modifications.
  • Manage and close valve-related technical queries and open points.
  • Assess and provide technical responses to issues arising during manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning.
  • Review and integrate valve design modifications requested by project stakeholders following Joint Design Office handover.
  • Perform engineering assessments and hand calculations to determine the feasibility and impact of proposed changes.
  • Review and verify technical documentation produced by suppliers and engineering subcontractors.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and optimise valve designs and associated documentation.
  • Collaborate with system engineers, layout engineers, computer-aided design designers, and multidisciplinary teams to support valve integration across plant systems.
  • Lead technical meetings and manage interfaces with stakeholders.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on valve operation, maintainability, reliability, and nuclear safety requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for valve-related queries from the Hinkley Point C site.
  • Coordinate technical activities across multiple valve packages and systems.
  • Drive alignment and consistency of technical solutions between stakeholders.
  • Monitor, manage, and support resolution of valve-related open points.
  • Facilitate communication between design teams, suppliers, construction teams, and the client.
  • Support project delivery by ensuring valve engineering activities are executed in line with project schedules, quality standards, and delivery objectives.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of nuclear industry codes, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Experience with valve sizing, actuator sizing, valve qualification, or performance assessments.
  • Experience reviewing supplier documentation and managing technical interfaces with valve manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of EPR design principles, the Hinkley Point C project, and associated engineering methodologies.
  • Previous experience supporting construction, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, or site activities.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional engineering activities and managing complex stakeholder interfaces.
  • Understanding of two-dimensional/three-dimensional design software and engineering document management systems.
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands, challenge assumptions appropriately, and understand the requirements of neighbouring disciplines.
  • Proven ability to deliver commitments and meet project deadlines.
  • French language skills.
  • Experience in valve engineering or related mechanical systems from other highly regulated sectors such as Energy, Oil & Gas, Defence, Power Generation, Process Industries, Aerospace, Rail, Marine, or Heavy Manufacturing.

Assystem's H1 revenue rises 2.5% organically to $371.2M on nuclear growth

Assystem reported consolidated revenue of €328.5 million for the first half of 2026, representing organic growth of 2.5% despite a 1.9% negative currency effect. The French engineering group's nuclear activities drove performance with 8.0% organic growth, accounting for 81% of total revenue. Revenue in France rose 4.2% organically to €201.1 million, led by strong momentum in nuclear new-builds and fuel cycle activities. International operations generated €127.4 million, remaining stable organically despite currency headwinds from the pound sterling, Indian rupee, and Saudi riyal. The UK showed robust growth in civil nuclear engineering and defence. However, business volumes declined in the Middle East, Central Asia region and India due to project endings and slower contract phasing. Assystem confirmed its full-year 2026 targets.

Assystem posts $187.4M Q1 revenue with 2.2% organic growth driven by nuclear sector

Assystem, an international engineering group, reported first-quarter 2026 consolidated revenue of €165.8 million, representing 2.2% organic growth driven by strong nuclear sector performance of 8.0%. Nuclear activities accounted for 81% of total revenue, up from 76% in the prior year. French operations grew 4.4% to €102.6 million, driven by momentum in fuel cycle activities, new-builds and digitalisation. International revenue declined 7.1% to €63.2 million, primarily due to a 6.0% negative currency effect from the pound sterling, Indian rupee and Saudi riyal. The UK showed robust growth in civil nuclear engineering and defence. Assystem secured key positions on government frameworks and its client Rolls-Royce SMR signed a contract with Great British Energy for three small modular reactors.
