About the job

Requirements
  • A proven track record of leading, managing, and mentoring engineering teams in a robotics, automotive, or complex systems environment.
  • Significant technical experience in vehicle systems integration, with a deep understanding of challenges across software, electrical, and mechanical domains.
  • Significant experience in drive-by-wire, vehicle motion control and interfaces, autonomy, platform and electrical architecture, networks, and connectivity.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and retaining engineering talent.
  • Exceptional engineering judgment and the ability to make critical decisions on technical strategy, architecture, and risk management.
  • Ability to guide a cross-disciplinary team and foster a clear sense of purpose and a high standard of execution.
  • Strategic and communication skills, including experience managing relationships with external partners such as original equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
  • A deep, hands-on technical background that provides credibility to guide senior engineers through challenging work.
Responsibilities
  • Personally lead and execute vehicle integrations of Mithra OS onto customer platforms, taking hands-on responsibility for technical work across mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces.
  • Own integration from initial assessment through field deployment, including vehicle and system analysis, interface definition, architecture, configuration, implementation, troubleshooting, verification, and acceptance.
  • Conduct and document technical feasibility studies, gather evidence, identify technical risks and dependencies, and make data-driven recommendations on whether and how an integration should proceed.
  • Design, implement, and debug vehicle integration solutions across hardware and software domains, including vehicle systems, onboard computers, sensors, actuators, networks, power systems, and mechanical interfaces.
  • Develop and execute integration and test plans from bench testing and hardware-in-the-loop activities through vehicle-level testing and live field trials; participate in testing, fault investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Build reusable engineering capabilities, including integration tools, software libraries, test utilities, configuration assets, interface specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Establish integration processes and engineering standards covering requirements, interface control, configuration management, verification evidence, change control, issue resolution, and technical decision-making.
  • Ensure integrations are safe, robust, serviceable, and mission-ready by identifying and addressing weaknesses before deployment and maintaining engineering quality throughout the lifecycle.
  • Work directly with vehicle original equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and specialist contractors to clarify interfaces, resolve technical issues, review proposed solutions, and ensure external contributions meet technical and safety standards.
  • Build and grow the vehicle integration team; initially operate as the primary hands-on integration engineer and technical owner, then recruit, mentor, and develop engineers while remaining technically engaged in complex integration challenges.
  • Translate field and customer requirements into executable engineering work, balancing technical performance, safety, schedule, maintainability, cost, and integration risk.

About the company

ARX Robotics develops autonomous unmanned ground systems (UGS) and software to modernize European defense fleets. Its GEREON tracked and HECTOR wheeled platforms are paired with Mithra OS, an open-architecture software that networks and controls ARX hardware and legacy NATO vehicles. Mithra OS enables retrofitting and digitizing existing vehicles to operate as autonomous, AI-enabled assets with remote or autonomous control. The company differentiates itself with an open software layer, a fully European supply chain, and a software-defined, modular UGS approach, aiming to scale production fivefold, expand in Europe, and advance Mithra OS while preserving technological sovereignty.

German DefenceTech startups deepen Ukraine ties as Quantum Systems secures deal for tens of thousands of drones

Two German DefenceTech companies have deepened their Ukraine operations during Chancellor Friedrich Merz's weekend visit to Kyiv. Munich-based Quantum Systems will have several tens of thousands of interceptor drones financed by Germany under its winter 2026/2027 military assistance package, manufactured in Ukraine. Meanwhile, ARX Robotics has expanded its relationship with Ukrainian company Roboneers into a strategic partnership for developing unmanned ground systems. The agreements reflect a growing trend of combining German capital with Ukrainian engineering and manufacturing. Germany's DefenceTech sector has attracted over €1.2 billion in disclosed funding recently. Quantum Systems raised €1 billion in July, whilst ARX Robotics completed a €42 million Series A in 2025. Both companies are establishing joint production facilities in Ukraine, with Quantum Systems already employing 80 people locally.
