Requirements
  • A minimum of a master's degree in the specific degree for the position, or a master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a specifically related field.
  • A minimum of one year of full-time teaching experience, or the equivalent as an adjunct instructor.
  • An equivalent and applicable combination of education and experience to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Knowledge of pedagogy and teaching experience equating to two years.
  • A strong background in computers and technology.
  • Organizational skills and general office skills, including filing, typing, and answering the phone.
  • The ability to communicate and interact effectively with students, employees, and community members of all backgrounds.
  • The ability to learn, research, analyze data effectively, work independently, meet established goals and deadlines, reason, perform calculations, and use a computer and standard office equipment.
  • Successful completion of a background check and, when applicable, a motor vehicle records report.
  • Adherence to the college's safety and compliance policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
  • The ability to perform assigned duties within the State of Colorado.
  • The ability to meet the position's physical requirements, including sitting, walking, standing, driving, reaching, finger movements, and occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Teach the assigned course load and classes as directed by the designated supervisor.
  • Evaluate courses and assess student learning while meeting established course, program, and learning outcomes.
  • Comply with applicable guidelines and policies and maintain office hours according to established standards.
  • Develop professional relationships with students and staff that encourage teacher-student communication.
  • Assist with advising, orientation, registration, student recruitment, and retention activities as appropriate.
  • Prepare lesson plans for each course in accordance with approved course objectives.
  • Develop and submit course outlines and syllabi to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist with developing measurable course objectives and plans.
  • Maintain accurate student course records and complete required course forms.
  • Be available for student consultation.
  • Assist with evaluating curriculum and instructional performance when agreed upon and appropriate.
  • Represent the college professionally throughout the communities and college district.
  • Participate in scholarly and creative activities that enhance discipline expertise and student learning.
  • Participate in campus and college committees, relevant projects, assessment activities, program review, and student organizations, and mentor peers.
  • Engage in professional development required for credentialing.
  • Report to the Assistant Dean of Instruction or designee in alignment with discipline deans.
  • Supervise student employees when assigned.
  • Submit grades before final contract payment is released when applicable.
  • Travel and work evening or weekend hours when required.
Desired Qualifications
