Piping Stress Engineer
About the job
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is required.
- Proven experience as a Pipe Stress Engineer on complex projects is required.
- Strong proficiency using CAESAR II for piping stress analysis is required.
- Working knowledge of ASME Section III and B31 piping codes is required.
- Understanding of static equipment, including vessels and heat exchangers, is required.
- A strong understanding of piping flexibility and support methodologies is required.
- Strong technical report writing and documentation skills are required.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail capabilities are required.
- Perform detailed pipe stress analysis for high-integrity piping systems across complex nuclear projects.
- Provide specialist engineering input covering flexibility, thermal, seismic and equipment loading assessments.
- Perform detailed pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II software.
- Assess flexibility, thermal expansion, vibration and seismic loading.
- Evaluate pipe supports, restraints and spring hanger requirements.
- Apply ASME, EN, RCC-M and project-specific design requirements.
- Assess piping loads transferred onto connected mechanical equipment.
- Produce stress reports, calculation notes and technical justifications.
- Review piping layouts, isometrics and 3D models for stress requirements.
- Coordinate technical interfaces with piping, process and structural teams.
- Support design reviews, risk assessments and nuclear quality requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and project teams.
- Experience within nuclear or other high-integrity industries is advantageous.
- Knowledge of E3D, PDMS, Navisworks or AutoCAD is advantageous.
