About the job

Requirements
  • Experience shipping data-driven or artificial intelligence systems to production, with Python experience strongly preferred.
  • A physical engineering background, such as automotive, aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to rapidly build integrations between disparate customer systems.
  • Comfort working directly with customers and technical leaders.
  • Experience integrating or extending artificial intelligence systems.
  • Experience delivering solutions in secure enterprise environments.
  • Experience handling live production troubleshooting and customer incident response.
Responsibilities
  • Work with customers over the entire Archie product lifecycle by leading discovery sessions, translating engineering challenges into artificial intelligence use cases, designing how Archie integrates into each workflow, and providing post-deployment support to ensure customer success.
  • Design, implement, and refine customer integrations by connecting Archie to engineering data sources and tools and iterating until it delivers measurable value.
  • Fine-tune and evaluate artificial intelligence systems in production environments by identifying, collecting, and preparing customer data to fine-tune models, and sourcing evaluation criteria and questions from customer sessions to validate improved engineering capability.
  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts and artificial intelligence specialists to develop novel artificial intelligence systems capable of executing critical customer engineering tasks.
  • Diagnose and resolve critical issues in live deployments by driving root-cause analysis and implementing durable improvements across the organization.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience integrating or extending artificial intelligence systems in engineering or scientific domains.

About the company

P-1 AI creates Archie, an AI agent that acts as a cognitive automation tool for engineering teams, interpreting design requirements, proposing product concepts, performing initial design trade-offs, and selecting appropriate tools for detailed analysis. Archie works like a junior engineer that operates before CAD or simulation software, handling the cognitive tasks that precede detailed design. It is trained on large-scale physics-based synthetic design datasets, including supply chain information, to develop quantitative and spatial reasoning. The company differentiates itself through leadership with deep aerospace and industrial engineering experience, a focus on augmenting existing tools rather than replacing them, and a data strategy built around synthetic data for physical systems, with a goal of integrating Archie into engineering teams to improve productivity across diverse industries.

What believers are saying

  • P-1 AI raised a $50 million Series A on July 29, 2026, extending runway.
  • The company says Archie completed a Daikin Applied workflow in 23 minutes, versus 7-10 workdays.
  • P-1 AI launched Archie Solo in August 2026 and is actively hiring forward-deployed engineers.

What critics are saying

  • Siemens, Autodesk, and Ansys shipped agentic engineering AI in 2026, compressing P-1’s differentiation window.
  • P-1 AI still depends on design-partner proofs in data center cooling; a weak rollout kills expansion plans.
  • A failed Archie deployment on critical power systems or aerospace programs would cripple trust and customer adoption.

What makes P-1 AI unique

  • Paul Eremenko, Aleksa Gordić, and Adam Nagel combine aerospace operations, DeepMind research, and systems engineering.
  • Archie automates front-end engineering work across requirements, trade studies, and tool orchestration, not CAD replacement.
  • P-1 AI builds proprietary semi-synthetic physics datasets, giving Archie domain data competitors lack.

Goodwin advises P-1 AI on its $50 million Series A financing. Professionals The Technology team advised P-1 AI on the initial closing of its Series A financing round led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA). The Series A, on the heels of the company's $23 million Seed round led by Radical Ventures in 2025, reflects strong product execution and commercial traction. The $50 million financing round will accelerate P-1 AI's deployment of Archie, an agentic AI engineer. P-1 AI is building an AI engineer for the physical world. The company's aim is to put an AI engineer on every engineering team at every industrial company on earth. P-1 AI's Archie is built for hardware engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical, thermal, fluids, and systems design, across data center, automotive, and aerospace and defense industrial customers.

P-1 AI raises $50M Series A led by NEA, adds ex-GE CEO Jeff Immelt to board

P-1 AI has closed a $50 million Series A funding round led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA). The San Mateo-based startup builds Archie, an AI engineer designed for hardware engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical, thermal, fluids, and systems design. The round follows P-1 AI's $23 million seed round led by Radical Ventures in 2025. The capital will expand the company's product and deployment teams and increase compute capacity for training custom models. Former General Electric chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt joins the board of directors, whilst NEA partner Lila Tretikov, previously Microsoft's deputy CTO, becomes a board observer. P-1 AI has established design partnerships with industrial firms in data centre cooling and critical power systems. The company is also launching Archie Solo, a lightweight version for individual users.
