Requirements
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey required.
  • ACLS and BLS required.
  • Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in basic life support (BLS).
  • Proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Ability to lift and move patients with/without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to organize care/activities of multiple patients.
  • Ability to employ problem solving techniques and critical thinking.
Responsibilities
  • Be accountable for the care activities, safety and goal achievements of assigned patients through assessing, diagnosing, planning and intervening in actual or potential health problems and evaluating patient’s response to the care.
  • Include patient education and discharge planning.
  • Mobilize patients and prevent skin breakdown and falls and implement the appropriate measures to achieve these goals.
  • Be a member of a designated care team and collaborate, coordinate and guide team members in planning patient care in a safe environment and achieving patient care goals according to the patient/family developmental stage and cultural expectations.
  • Document patient care and services in accordance with American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Organization Standards Sentinel Event Alert Recommendation, Patient/Family Centered Principles, Department of Health Standards and University Hospital Policies and Procedures.
  • Exemplify the behavioral expectations for the role and Nursing Department Philosophy as a professional licensed staff and member of an interdisciplinary team.
Desired Qualifications
  • BSN preferred.
  • Adult Medical/Surgical experience preferred.
  • Progressive Care Course or Progressive Care Certification, preferred but must be achieved within first six months of hire.
  • Phlebotomy Certification or IV Certification is preferred but must be achieved within first six months of hire.
  • Successful completion of a Critical Care Course or CCRN Certification preferred.
  • Education or experience in a field relevant to Critical Care or Progressive Care is preferred.
