Requirements
  • Ability to circulate operating-room cases and procedures across different services.
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity, hearing acuity, and verbal ability.
  • Stand for extended periods and walk, lift, bend, and stoop for most of the workday.
  • Work with exposure to blood and body fluids, hazardous materials, radiation, and communicable diseases.
  • Current North Carolina RN license or RN multistate licensure privilege through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree within five years of employment, as required for employees beginning employment with FirstHealth of the Carolinas in a registered nurse position.
  • Minimum of two years of operating-room experience.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with people across a wide range of ages, ethnicities, educational backgrounds, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Perform physical assessments and use effective organizational skills to prioritize accurately and quickly.
  • Use computer skills effectively within the services provided.
  • Solve problems and apply critical thinking while maintaining the clinical and professional competency required for age-specific populations.
  • Work as a team-oriented nurse, assisting and mentoring others to facilitate patient or customer satisfaction.
  • Identify appropriate staffing, supply, maintenance, and equipment needs and adjust as necessary within budgetary guidelines.
  • Serve as a positive role model, remain flexible and open to change, and function effectively under pressure.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with staff, physicians, shift supervisors, and ancillary departments.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room credential.
