Reolink unveils next-gen ReoNeura AI, Home Hub 2, and OMVI 2i Ultra at IFA 2026. ByPaul Lamkin, Contributor. Paul's a smart home expert and the founder of the Wareable Media Group Sep 04, 2026, 03:53am EDT Summary. Reolink unveiled significant AI upgrades for its smart home security cameras at IFA 2026, introducing the next-gen ReoNeura AI platform. This on-device AI allows for Custom AI Detection, letting users define specific scenarios like an open garage door, eliminating the need for cloud subscriptions. The new Home Hub 2 enables Local AI Video Search, allowing natural language queries to find events in recordings, and supports up to 16TB storage. Reolink also launched the OMVI 2i Ultra, a wire-free dual-camera with SyncTrack for object following, and the TrackFlex WiFi, a 4K dual-lens camera with advanced AI detection and Quick Event Localization. The Home Hub 2 and TrackFlex WiFi arrive this fall for $199.99, with the OMVI 2i Ultra following in Q4. Reolink has used IFA 2026 to announce that it is giving its smart home security cameras an AI upgrade, with new skills that let you teach the tech what to look for, and let you search through footage using natural language. The Chinese brand has unveiled the next generation of its ReoNeura AI platform at the Berlin-based expo, alongside a new Home Hub 2 and the OMVI 2i Ultra camera (main image, above). ReoNeura runs its AI processing on-device, and so it doesn't require a subscription or cloud processing. Reolink tells us that it can already distinguish between people, vehicles, animals and packages, and the new Custom AI Detection feature takes things a step further by allowing users to define their own scenarios. Rather than getting an alert saying that motion was detected, for example, you could teach the system to recognize something specific to your home, such as a garage door being open or a car not being on the driveway overnight. When paired with the new Reolink Home Hub 2, there's also Local AI Video Search on offer, which means less scrubbing through hours of recordings looking for something specific. Users will be able to search using natural-language descriptions, asking the system to find particular events or activity in your recordings without needing a cloud subscription like you do with the likes of Ring. The new Hub 2 can store and manage footage from up to eight Reolink cameras, with support for up to 16TB of external storage. The OMVI 2i Ultra is a wire-free dual-camera security camera with an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 5-megapixel pan-and-tilt camera. The two cameras work together using Reolink's SyncTrack system, first introduced on the OMVI 3i earlier this year. The Prompt: Get the week's biggest AI news on the buzziest companies and boldest breakthroughs, in your inbox. When the fixed wide-angle camera detects an object, the pan-and-tilt camera can follow it, even after it moves out of the first camera's field of view. The PT camera can pan 355 degrees and tilt 50 degrees, with automatic framing and zoom thrown into the mix. With a 10,000mAh removable battery and a 6W solar panel, Reolink claims there's up to six months of battery life and enough charging from 30 minutes of sunlight per day to keep it running. Reolink also used IFA 2026 to unveil the TrackFlex WiFi: a 4K dual-lens camera with 270-degree detection, 355-degree pan range and AI detection for people, vehicles and animals. It also gets Quick Event Localization, which is designed to make sure recordings include the full context around an event rather than just the few seconds where the camera spotted something. The Reolink Home Hub 2 will go on sale this fall for $199.99, TrackFlex WiFi lands in October, also costing $199.99; the OMVI 2i Ultra is expected to arrive later in Q4 with pricing still to be confirmed. Reolink also had the flagship OMVI X16 PoE on show in Berlin, which is now set to launch in Q4, but there's still no word on pricing. Read our community guidelines. Less than $2/week.

Reolink introduces 4K AI-powered surveillance solutions for Gulf markets. September 1, 2026 Every summer across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, a quiet and largely invisible problem plays out on the exterior walls of homes, villas, and commercial buildings: security cameras fail. Not from theft or vandalism, but from the heat. As the GCC smart home market accelerates toward a projected valuation of USD 5.2 billion in 2026 and property owners invest more than ever in security technology, the gap between the hardware being purchased and the environment it's expected to operate in has never been wider. The Problem Most Buyers Never Think to Ask About When a homeowner or facilities manager purchases a security camera, the conversation typically centres on resolution, night vision, and price. Rarely does it include the question that matters most in this region: what is it rated for? Standard consumer-grade security cameras are typically rated to operate at ambient temperatures up to 45°C to 50°C. In the UAE, temperatures regularly exceed this threshold. On August 1, 2025, the temperature in Sweihan hit 51.8°C, and in 2026, UAE forecasters warned of peaks reaching 50°C. In Saudi Arabia, Riyadh regularly records daytime highs above 42°C, with surface temperatures on south-facing walls climbing significantly higher. When a camera's thermal ceiling is breached, the consequences range from degraded image quality and intermittent connectivity to complete hardware failure - often with no visible warning. "Security is fundamentally about reliability," said Syed Sameer Ali, Regional Head of Sales, Middle East, Africa & India at Reolink. "If a camera fails because of the afternoon sun, it isn't fulfilling its purpose. The GCC is a unique environment that demands specialized hardware, and we're deeply committed to the communities we serve across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The RP-PCB8M and RP-PN16 are here for property owners who want to install a system once and trust it completely - through summer, through dust storms, and through the night." Built for the Gulf: The RP-PCB8M Reolink is addressing this directly with the availability of the RP-PCB8M Smart 4K PoE Bullet Security Camera and the RP-PN16 24-Channel PoE Network Video Recorder. The RP-PCB8M is officially rated for ambient operating temperatures from -30°C to +55°C (−22°F to +131°F), providing a meaningful thermal buffer above what standard cameras offer. Its housing is constructed from a metal aluminium case - a deliberate engineering choice that dissipates internal heat far more effectively than the plastic bodies found on most consumer cameras, and one that will not warp or degrade under sustained direct sunlight. The camera also carries an IP67 weatherproof rating, making it fully dust-tight against the fine sand and seasonal dust storms that are a year-round reality across the GCC. The RP-PCB8M captures 4K Ultra HD video at 8MP and 25 frames per second, with a 125° diagonal field of view that covers driveways, courtyards, and building entrances in a single shot. Its F1.6 large aperture lens - wider than the F2.0 lenses found on most cameras - delivers sharp color night vision even in low-light conditions, with traditional infrared night vision extending to 30 metres (100ft) as a fallback in complete darkness. Multiple lighting modes ensure optimised visibility around the clock. For storage flexibility, the camera supports a microSD card up to 512GB - providing up to 145 hours of local footage - alongside compatibility with Reolink NVRs and encrypted FTP backup. Where the RP-PCB8M truly distinguishes itself is in its AI capabilities. Powered by Reolink's AI engine, the camera goes well beyond basic motion detection with Person, Vehicle, and Animal Detection, dramatically reducing false alerts triggered by moving shadows or blowing debris. Its AI-driven Perimeter Protection suite includes Line Crossing Alert, Zone Intrusion Alert, and Zone Loitering Alert, enabling precise 24/7 protection of defined areas and rapid response to genuine security threats. Smart Event Detection (Beta) goes further still, sending instant alerts when an object is forgotten or removed from a key area - a feature with direct applications in retail, hospitality, and high-value residential settings. Enterprise-Grade AI in a Unified System The RP-PCB8M pairs with the Reolink RP-PN16, a 24-channel PoE NVR powered by ReoNeura AI - Reolink's enterprise-grade intelligence engine. Using Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology - IEEE 802.3 af/at standard - the NVR delivers both power and network connectivity to each connected camera through a single cable, making installation straightforward and eliminating the need for separate outdoor power supplies. The RP-PN16 supports expansion to up to 32TB via two SATA interfaces for continuous 24/7 recording across all connected cameras. Its AI Video Search capability allows users to search locally saved recordings using plain-language keywords - typing "person wearing white clothes" or "yellow dog" to pinpoint specific footage in seconds, without manually scrubbing through hours of video. Heat Mapping technology visualises foot traffic density using color variations, making the RP-PN16 a powerful business intelligence tool for retail stores, malls, supermarkets, and museums looking to optimise layout and product placement based on how people actually move through a space. The system supports up to 12 simultaneous users and is accessible via monitor, PC client, or the Reolink mobile app, keeping teams connected from anywhere. Critically, all footage is protected by video file encryption, requiring a password for playback even after a factory reset - ensuring data remains secure even if the device is physically stolen. The Middle East and Africa video surveillance market generated USD 6.66 billion in 2025 and is growing at 12.2% annually. Saudi Arabia's home security systems market reached USD 708.9 million in 2025, on a trajectory toward USD 1.5 billion by 2034. The demand is real and growing - and with the RP-PCB8M and RP-PN16, Reolink is ensuring that the hardware keeping pace with that demand is also built for the climate it operates in. The Reolink RP-PCB8M and RP-PN16 are available now at Amazon, Noon, Sharaf DG, Shouki Electronics, Al Munir computers and Power Zone electronics.
