Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 1 year of collegiate teaching experience or 5 years of training experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in Occupational Safety and Health, demonstrating hands-on expertise in applying occupational safety and health principles in real-world, non-academic environments.
  • Experience demonstrating effective risk management, compliance with safety regulations, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in high-risk industries.
  • A BCSP Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist designation, or the ability to receive such a designation within 1 year of hire.
  • Evidence of service work aligned with the SOHAS Department Guidelines.
Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and potential graduate courses in classroom, laboratory, and partially online formats.
  • Develop curriculum.
  • Manage laboratories.
  • Advise students.
  • Participate in college service.
  • Maintain professional development.
  • Participate in service activities for the program, department, and college.
  • Teach and mentor a diverse student body, including first-generation college students.
  • Promote critical thinking, problem solving, and civic engagement.
Desired Qualifications
  • Board-certified designations or professional engineer licensure.
  • Experience working in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of HOP, Safety II, and SIF Prevention.
  • Knowledge of Systems and Behavioral Sciences.
