Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Medical Assistant certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire; Basic Life Support through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some Pennsylvania practice locations.
  • The role requires knowledge of medical terminology.
  • The role requires familiarity with medical office procedures.
  • The role requires the ability to lift and carry 25 pounds, frequent sitting and standing, and frequent keyboard use.
  • Patient care providers may be required to kneel, bend, squat, and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • The Medical Assistant certification exception applies to qualifying internal Einstein applicants transferring within Einstein entities.
Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians as they assess, examine, and treat patients.
  • Manage patient flow.
  • Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure proper patient identification.
  • Remain proficient and knowledgeable in the use and documentation requirements of information technology systems within the established scope of practice.
  • Assist physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures.
  • Perform electrocardiograms, venipuncture, and injections in the office when applicable, using appropriate clinical skills.
  • Act as a liaison to physicians to help ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
  • Order clinical supplies to maintain inventory and facilitate smooth office operations.
  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistently with Jefferson's values.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a physician office or other healthcare setting is preferred.
  • For New Jersey locations, graduate from an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
