Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Eight or more years of technical experience in a related engineering field or direct quality experience.
  • Experience as part of an operational team using and ideally building quality processes in a mature production environment.
  • Knowledge of Costpoint and TIPQA or similar systems.
  • U.S. Person status under the ITAR definition, including U.S. citizenship, green card status, or coverage under an existing ITAR license.
  • Ability to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Ability to operate office, personal electronic, production, and related equipment.
  • Ability to read computer screens, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to participate in conversations and hear safety warnings or alarms on the production floor.
  • Ability to carry and lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 10 pounds or 5 kilograms.
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators or masks, and protective gloves as required.
Responsibilities
  • Define and deploy processes for operating the quality management system.
  • Apply lean methodologies, data analytics, and data mining techniques to meet top company objectives.
  • Review, develop, and analyze dashboards and visual management tools to identify deficiencies in the quality system.
  • Compile and analyze statistical data for nonconformities, key performance indicators, and quality department metrics to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor the digital platform used to collect and archive FOD, housekeeping, tool inventory, lost tool, and lost item reports.
  • Evaluate key performance indicators to identify problem areas and implement corrective actions.
  • Support inspection personnel with nonconformity management data analysis and quality implementation processes.
  • Establish feedback monitoring with collaborators, identify trends, and highlight opportunities to improve the quality management system.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports based on quality interactions.
  • Create, review, and update company manuals, policies, procedures, and forms to streamline company processes.
  • Implement and monitor inspection plans and test processes to ensure quality assurance standards are achieved.
  • Participate in meetings with the quality department, supporting departments, and design office personnel.
  • Apply SQCDP, key performance indicators, practical problem solving, plan-do-check-act, root cause and corrective action, and other quality metrics to support continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate the quality management system and share insights and trends that enhance the system and customer experience.
  • Suggest and implement changes to working conditions and equipment to increase departmental efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Act as the quality interface to resolve system, product, and design defects received at AHI.
  • Prepare audit checklists and support internal audits of processes and procedures to ensure compliance and external audit readiness.
  • Implement customer and Type Design Holder requirements in the quality management system.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration and AS9100 quality standards.
  • Create computer-aided design drawings to support corrective actions.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Quality Engineering.
  • Six Sigma certification.
  • AS9100 Auditor qualification.
  • American Society for Quality Quality Engineer Certificate.
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant certificate.
  • Project Management Professional qualification.

Airbus A350F freighter completes maiden flight with 4.3m cargo door for servers

Airbus has successfully completed the first flight of its A350F freighter, bringing the aerospace giant closer to delivering a high-capacity cargo aircraft. The plane took off from Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France, flying for four hours and ten minutes and reaching 25,000 feet. The A350F can carry a payload of 109 tonnes, compared to 64 tonnes for the existing A330F. It features a 4.3-metre cargo door large enough to accommodate turbofan engines and high-density computer servers. Airbus claims the A350F is more efficient than Boeing's rival 777F, despite having slightly less capacity. The company has already received orders for 115 A350Fs. A second test aircraft is nearly complete as Airbus begins the certification process requiring hundreds of test flights.

Airbus and Qantas back $30M funding for Australian SAF developer Jet Zero

Jet Zero Australia has raised $30 million to advance Project Ulysses, a commercial-scale sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel refinery in Townsville. The funding round was backed by institutional investors including Qantas and Airbus, both returning investors from 2023. South Korean company Posco International joined as a new strategic investor, with the parties exploring opportunities in fuel offtake, infrastructure and feedstock. The capital will fund completion of Front-End Engineering Design and support the project's progress towards Final Investment Decision and construction. Founded in 2021 by Ed Mason, Jet Zero develops biofuels production capacity in regional Australia. The project has received its final Development Permit Decision Notice from Queensland's Office of the Coordinator-General. It is expected to create approximately 1,000 construction jobs and 100 permanent operational roles.

Airbus shelves stricter office return plan after Spanish union strikes

Airbus has postponed its plan to reduce remote working after strikes by Spanish unions, Reuters reports. The aerospace manufacturer will allow employees to continue working from home an average of two days per week, shelving indefinitely a push to limit remote work to one day. Chief Executive Guillaume Faury had sought to require white-collar staff on-site four days weekly by September, citing the need for knowledge transfer. Spanish unions said roughly 40% of Airbus's 14,000 Spanish employees have walked out over remote work policies, transport, leave and wages. An Airbus spokesperson said the company would implement the transition "more gradually" based on employee feedback. French unions estimate a quarter to a third of Airbus's workforce has been hired in the past three years. Aircraft production has not been affected by the disruptions.
