About the job

Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant field.
  • At least 10 years of relevant, proven experience.
  • Ability to work in a highly multifunctional environment spanning computer vision, embedded systems, image signal processing, mechanical and electrical engineering, optical science, and human factors.
  • A proven track record developing and improving computer vision perception algorithms and image signal processing pipelines.
  • Experience optimizing computer vision algorithms for performance, power, and memory on embedded platforms.

  • Ability to understand and articulate trade-offs between multiple sensing solutions and their effects on high-level algorithms and low-level system performance.
  • Deep expertise in at least one relevant computer vision specialty area, such as simultaneous localization and mapping, tracking, classification, calibration, PnP-based pose estimation, scene understanding, human representation, or image enhancement.
Responsibilities
  • Break down high-level product goals into system, module, and component requirements, including firmware, image signal processor, and operating system constraints.
  • Find solutions within system constraints that enable new perception capabilities and maximize user value.
  • Develop and optimize computer vision perception algorithms and image signal processing pipelines for performance, power, and memory on embedded platforms.
  • Work with firmware, image signal processing, mechanical and electrical engineering, and optical science teams to evaluate sensing trade-offs across cameras, depth sensors, and inertial measurement units.
  • Debug and optimize performance at the firmware or operating system level, and tune image signal processing behavior to match hardware capabilities with algorithmic needs.
  • Communicate technical trade-offs and requirements to partners ranging from firmware and operating system engineers to feature and experience teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • Breadth of knowledge in computer vision, including classical methods or machine learning.
  • Experience translating ambiguous, high-level product goals into detailed feature-level architectures and system requirements.

  • Strong leadership skills for driving large multifunctional efforts, resolving conflicts, and presenting results to senior leadership.
  • Ability to bridge high-level algorithm design and low-level system optimization, including image signal processing performance under tight power and latency constraints.
  • Experience optimizing and fine-tuning image signal processing pipelines, including noise reduction, color correction, demosaicing, and dynamic range enhancement.
  • Exposure to vision transformers, foundation models, and vision-language models, particularly for resource-constrained environments.
  • Proficiency debugging and optimizing performance at the firmware or operating system level, including tuning image signal processing performance for tight hardware and algorithm integration.

About the company

Apple designs and sells consumer electronics, from iPhone smartphones and Mac computers to tablets and wearable devices. Its operating systems manage apps and built-in functions for communication and work, while iCloud stores files and synchronizes data across devices. Customers buy additional digital services through subscriptions such as Apple Music and Apple TV, and developers distribute software through the App Store. Apple earns money from hardware sales, subscriptions and digital transactions, selling directly to customers and through retailers and mobile carriers around the world. It was founded in 1976 and has its headquarters in Cupertino, California.

What believers are saying

  • Business demand is growing: Apple reported $109.4 billion revenue in the June 2026 quarter, up 16% year over year.
  • Eligible US employees get learning support: Apple reimburses career-related tuition and runs Apple University classes.
  • Services earn richer margins: Apple reported 75.6% services gross margin in the June 2026 quarter, versus 40.1% for products.

What critics are saying

  • Assembly depends on Asian partners: Apple outsources substantially all final hardware assembly, reducing direct control over production.
  • iPhone concentrates demand risk: the product generated 49.6% of Apple revenue in the June 2026 quarter.
  • Student support shifts take evenings: Apple College Advisors typically work three evening shifts and one weekend shift weekly.

What makes Apple unique

  • Its chips link hardware and software: Apple designs M-series processors and developer frameworks tuned to their unified memory.
  • Stores double as service hubs: Apple combines device sales, Genius Bar technical help and in-person learning sessions.
  • It owns a spatial operating system: Apple Vision Pro runs visionOS, controlled through eyes, hands and voice.

Apple at 10% yearly growth: $1,000 could become $1,522 by October 2030

Apple shares traded at $345.35 at noon, up 32% over the past year. A 24/7 Wall St. model projects the stock could reach $523.62 by October 21, 2030, turning a $1,000 investment into about $1,522.20, a 52.22% return. Strict 10% annual growth would yield $1,464.10 over four years. The model's five-year target of $551.91 by October 2031 implies 9.92% a year. The June quarter supports the case. iPhone revenue rose 22% to $54.3 billion, and Services grew 12% to $30.7 billion. Apple also authorised an additional $100 billion buyback. Risks include rising memory costs, chip supply limits, and a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 38. The average analyst target is $328.35, below the current price.

Apple acquires agentic AI startup Ascend.io in acquihire, EU filing reveals

Apple has agreed to acquire Ascend.io, a company that builds agentic data engineering technology. The deal appeared on the EU's "List of Acquisitions" website, which Apple must update under the Digital Markets Act when it buys companies above a certain size. The filing names Ascension Labs, Inc., the firm behind Ascend.io. Apple will have the right to make employment offers to certain employees, a typical acquihire. It also gets a non-exclusive licence to Ascend's intellectual property rights and may be assigned certain patents. Founded in 2015, Ascend.io calls itself "the first Agentic Data Engineering platform," using AI agents to handle data engineering tasks. Earlier this month, Apple also struck a deal with an AI startup that lets musicians rework recorded music.

Liquid Glass finally makes sense on Apple's folding iPhone Duo

Apple's Liquid Glass design language finally makes sense on the iPhone Duo, the company's upcoming folding phone, according to this assessment of its latest software updates. The Duo has a wide, passport-shaped display that opens to landscape, like the iPad Mini. Apple designed it around one aspect ratio shared by both screens, said Molly Anderson, vice president of Industrial Design. Content appears to flow between them, and controls sit at the side so they stay in a consistent place. Liquid Glass is now tuned to individual devices rather than one universal look. Some issues remain. Developer Steve Troughton-Smith said proper iPhone Duo support could take some apps six months to a year.

Wells Fargo shifts AI agent liability to customers on November 24, three days before Black Friday

Apple's $299 HomeView ships in the US on November 13, and Wells Fargo's updated Online Access Agreement takes effect November 24. Black Friday falls three days later, on November 27. Section 15 of the Wells Fargo agreement deems any instruction an AI agent executes as authorised by the customer, without further verification. It says use of an AI agent is "AT YOUR OWN RISK," and the bank does not monitor agent activity. The bank may limit, suspend, or terminate agent access at any time. Merchants look unprepared. An October 24 analysis found 11% of small and mid-sized merchants and 19% of large merchants agent-ready. Among consumers, 58% research with AI, but only 17% are comfortable letting it complete a purchase. HomeView remains unavailable in the EU.

Apple, Abbott and Accenture: quality growth stocks for a Fed on hold at 3.75%-4%

The US Federal Reserve held rates at 3.75% to 4% and signals it may tighten further. A Simply Wall St screen of large-cap US quality growth stocks found 50 companies with strong balance sheets, profitability, and growth. It highlights three. Abbott Laboratories has a market value of about $178.4 billion, with roughly $19.4 billion of revenue from the US. Wider use of continuous glucose monitoring could support sales growth. Accenture is valued near $138.9 billion. The market is asking whether it can turn AI from a threat into a growth engine. Apple is worth about $5.1 trillion, with $193.6 billion in revenue from the Americas. Its services business is seen as a key source of future profit.
