Munson Healthcare partners with YesRx for Cancer Medication Donation Week. 10-19-2026 at 01:30:00 PM EDT | Updated 10-19-2026 at 01:33:02 PM EDT TRAVERSE CITY - Munson Healthcare is partnering with Michigan-based nonprofit YesRx during Cancer Medication Donation Week, Oct. 19-23, to help unused oral cancer medications reach eligible patients at no cost. YesRx serves as a network and facilitator for Michigan's Cancer Drug Repository System, helping transfer donated medications into the state's repository program and connect eligible patients with participating pharmacies. People can donate oral cancer medications and supportive medications if they are sealed in their original manufacturer packaging, have at least six months remaining before expiration and have been stored at room temperature. Donations are accepted during Cancer Medication Donation Week and year-round at Munson Healthcare's seven infusion centers across Northern Michigan: * Cadillac Cancer & Infusion Clinic: 400 Hobart St., Cadillac * Cowell Family Cancer Center: 217 S. Madison St., Traverse City * Grayling Cancer & Infusion Clinic: 1100 E. Michigan Ave., Grayling * Kalkaska Cancer & Infusion Clinic: 419 S. Coral St., Kalkaska * Manistee Cancer & Infusion Clinic: 1465 E. Parkdale Ave., Manistee * OMH Cancer & Infusion Clinic: 701 N. Otsego Ave., Gaylord * Sarah M. Foster, MD Chemotherapy and Infusion Center at Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital: 14700 Lake Shore Drive, Charlevoix "We see firsthand the incredible impact YesRx and the Cancer Drug Repository make on people's lives," said Kathy LaRaia, Munson Healthcare vice president of oncology and professional services. "The donation of a single unopened bottle can mean a full month of treatment for someone who otherwise might not be able to afford life-saving medication." According to the American Cancer Society, three out of every four cancer patients say they worry about the cost of their care. Meanwhile, Pharmacy Times Oncology Edition estimates that more than $3 billion worth of cancer medications go to waste each year. Since its formation in 2023, YesRx and participating pharmacies have recovered more than $53 million worth of donated cancer medications and helped 2,300 Michigan patients receive prescriptions at no cost. Don't lose coverage: Munson Healthcare launches Medicaid support resources. 10.01.2026 A missed notice. A missed deadline. A missed renewal. For thousands of Northern Michigan residents, something as simple as a missed notice, missed deadline, or confusing paperwork could mean losing access to medications, preventive care, or ongoing treatment. To help patients navigate upcoming Medicaid changes and maintain access to care, Munson Healthcare is launching a Medicaid support initiative featuring a dedicated support line, online resources, and community outreach. Community members who have questions or need assistance can call 231-935-2860 and press 1 to connect directly with Medicaid enrollment and renewal support specialists. Resources, FAQs, eligibility guidance, and additional information are also available at munsonhealthcare.org/medicaid. Beginning in 2027, changes to Medicaid eligibility and renewal requirements are expected to create new challenges for many beneficiaries. While many individuals may remain eligible for coverage, missed paperwork, renewal deadlines, or confusion about new requirements could place their benefits at risk. Munson Healthcare want people to know they do not have to navigate these changes alone," said Ed Ness, CEO of Munson Healthcare. "Our mission is to improve the health of the communities Munson Healthcare serve, and that includes helping patients understand their options and staying connected to the care they need. Sometimes the most important healthcare support begins before a patient ever walks through its doors. Through this initiative, Munson Healthcare will provide: * Dedicated Medicaid Assistance Line: Call 231-935-2860, press 1 for enrollment and renewal support. * Online Medicaid Resource Center: Eligibility guidance, renewal information, FAQs, and links to additional resources available at munsonhealthcare.org/medicaid. * Certified Enrollment Specialists: Assistance with Medicaid enrollment, renewals, and eligibility questions. * Financial Counseling Support: Guidance to help patients understand available coverage options and financial assistance resources. * Targeted Outreach and Education: Community awareness efforts, educational materials, and outreach to patients who may need additional support. Maintaining health coverage helps individuals access preventive screenings, manage chronic conditions, and obtain medications. Munson's initiative is designed to remove barriers, reduce confusion, and ensure patients have trusted local resources available when questions arise. By connecting patients with the right information and support, Munson Healthcare can help more families remain covered and focus on what matters most: their health and well-being, said Ness. Residents seeking assistance are encouraged to call 231-935-2860 and press 1 or visit munsonhealthcare.org/medicaid for information, enrollment assistance, renewal guidance, and frequently asked questions
