About the company

Anthropic builds the Claude family of AI models and sells them to businesses, software developers, and consumers, with research on making AI safe and understandable at the center of its work. In 2024 it introduced the Model Context Protocol, an open standard for connecting AI assistants to outside apps and data that OpenAI and Google adopted the next year. People use the Claude app to write and analyze files, programmers hand coding tasks to Claude Code, and companies build Claude into their own products through its API. Anthropic earns money from subscriptions, business plans, and usage-based API fees. Siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei founded Anthropic in 2021 with other former OpenAI employees, and it is based in San Francisco.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Sales are multiplying: Anthropic's yearly revenue pace topped $65 billion in July 2026, over sevenfold since December 2025.
  • IPO plans advanced: October 2026 reports describe investor meetings and a mid-November listing target; staff shares face lockups.
  • Lower office minimum: 627 of 646 Anthropic job posts in October 2026 require at least 25% office time.

What critics are saying

  • Job security rides on growth: Anthropic's IPO prospectus lists $518 billion in cloud and computing bills due in coming years.
  • Defense work stays off-limits: in September 2026, appeals judges voted 2-1 to let the Pentagon keep blacklisting Anthropic.
  • Growth is priced in: Anthropic's valuation reached $965 billion in May 2026, up from $380 billion in February.

What makes Anthropic unique

  • Investors don't control its board alone: Anthropic's independent Long-Term Benefit Trust elects a growing number of directors.
  • It isn't tied to one chipmaker: Claude runs on Nvidia GPUs plus custom AI chips designed by Google and Amazon.
  • It holds back its riskiest model: Claude Mythos 5.1, launched September 2026, goes only to vetted cyberdefenders and life scientists.

Musk pledges SpaceX shares to every US child, a day after Anthropic's 5% fund

Elon Musk said on X on Monday that next year he would give every child in America one SpaceX share. He called the donations "the first of many." The post drew over 33 million views in a day. President Donald Trump thanked Musk for his "incredible generosity." No plan has emerged. Musk did not explain the pledge on SpaceX's Tuesday earnings call, where the company reported a 161% rise in revenue from a year earlier. He hinted the shares could go through the new "Trump Accounts" program, which CNBC said may limit when recipients can sell. The pledge came one day after rival Anthropic announced a "Public Benefit Fund" and plans to donate 5% of its shares to it. Musk suggested Anthropic give shares "directly to the public," then said four hours later, "This is what I will be doing.

Anthropic's S-1 reveals $750B cloud spend and capacity struggles with AWS, Google and Microsoft

Anthropic is struggling to secure enough cloud capacity from AWS, Google, and Microsoft, which increasingly see it as a competitor rather than a customer. That is according to an S-1 filing leaked to The Wall Street Journal. The filing says Anthropic believes it could spend more than $750 billion on cloud contracts, some still in negotiation. It is also leasing its own data centres and using third-party operators, but worries their "limited operating history" could make them less reliable than the big cloud providers. Anthropic posted an $80.7 billion net loss in the first half of the year on $16.3 billion in revenue. Two customers account for about a fifth of sales. The company told investors third-quarter revenue reached $16.8 billion, up 45% from the previous quarter. It is reportedly targeting a November IPO.

Anthropic's $80.7B first-half net loss shouldn't deter IPO investors, strategist says

Anthropic has disclosed about $80.7 billion in net losses for the first half of 2026 in a draft filing for an initial public offering (IPO), according to reports from the Wall Street Journal and Reuters. B. Riley Wealth chief market strategist Art Hogan says the losses are no surprise. Revenue growth has slowed a little, he said, while spending on infrastructure has not. Hogan expects Anthropic to stress its strong revenue growth and to aim to list before Thanksgiving. He said OpenAI is likely to follow next year, and that SpaceX will be watching the same pool of investors. Investors will watch whether revenue growth keeps outpacing computing costs.

Anthropic S1 reportedly shows $80.7B first-half loss and up to $750B in planned computing spend

Anthropic PBC lost $80.7 billion in the first half of this year and could spend $750 billion on additional computing power in the coming years, the Wall Street Journal reported. The newspaper said it obtained a copy of the company's S1 filing as Anthropic prepares to go public.

isolved Connector for Claude now covers full employee lifecycle, from pay checks to missed punches

isolved, a Workforce Capital Management company, has expanded its isolved Connector for Claude to cover the full employee lifecycle. Employees can now update contact information, get notifications, submit a missed punch, and manage timecard adjustments inside Claude. The connector launched in June. It lets employees check pay history, paystubs, time-off balances, and enrolled benefits without logging into a separate portal. Before any change is submitted, it shows what will change and asks for confirmation. Pay and benefits records are view-only. The company's 2026 HR Leaders Report found that 48% of HR leaders spend one to three hours a day answering repetitive employee questions, and 47% spend four hours or more. Next, isolved plans to add manager workflows, HR and administrator tools, and agentic experiences.
