Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Cognitive Science, Linguistics, or a related field that includes an experimental or empirical component.
  • At least four years of experience defining and leading cross-team human data programs for artificial intelligence and machine learning, including annotation operations, quality frameworks, and evaluation strategies within a natural language processing, natural language understanding, or generative artificial intelligence environment.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL for processing, analyzing, and querying large datasets, extracting insights, automating tasks, and monitoring program performance.
  • Hands-on experience designing and managing zero-to-one human-in-the-loop data collection, annotation, and evaluation initiatives, including incorporating agentic workflows to improve quality and scalability.
  • Experience working with diverse data types, including speech, text, and multimodal data, across multiple languages.
  • Expertise in end-to-end data annotation quality management, including developing statistical process controls and data quality metrics.
  • Familiarity with privacy-preserving data handling practices and compliance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success optimizing data pipelines and workflows to improve quality, reduce lead time, and scale operations.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, data science, legal, privacy, and third-party suppliers.
  • Strong organizational skills and an execution-oriented approach, with the ability to balance attention to detail and big-picture thinking as program scope and priorities evolve.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end execution of human data collection programs for multilingual, multimodal, and multi-turn artificial intelligence features, from intake and scoping through delivery and retrospective.
  • Estimate and maintain project timelines, capacity needs, and costs while anticipating and proactively resolving bottlenecks to ensure timely execution.
  • Design and own the measurement framework for human data collection initiatives, defining indicators such as spend, speed, inter-rater reliability, and volume, and building reporting systems that surface actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Build and implement human data quality frameworks, including statistical process controls and behavioral signals to proactively detect and remediate quality degradation throughout the annotation lifecycle.
  • Apply human-centered artificial intelligence principles to influence data collection task design and reduce sources of cognitive burden affecting human performance, consistency, and wellbeing.
  • Analyze data collection workflows to identify inefficiencies and scalability gaps, then design and implement agent- and machine-in-the-loop workflows and supporting data pipelines and extract, transform, and load services to improve data quality and diversity while optimizing cost and lead time.
  • Partner with Legal, Privacy, and New Product Security to design and implement compliant data collection and user study programs that adhere to Apple's privacy, governance, and regulatory standards.
  • Design and own the data collection lifecycle with external and internal workforces, including onboarding and calibration programs, performance frameworks, and quality audits that ensure reliable, high-quality deliverables.
  • Act as the connective tissue across engineering, product, legal, security, procurement, and vendor teams, ensuring alignment, clear communication, and follow-through.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree or higher in Cognitive Science, Linguistics, or a related field that includes an experimental or empirical component.
  • At least two years of experience owning data strategy for frontier artificial intelligence development and evaluation, with experience in human alignment methodologies and agentic generative artificial intelligence systems.
  • Experience managing external vendor or workforce partners at scale.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence safety and responsible artificial intelligence principles, including applying them to data collection or annotation workflows.

Morgan Stanley sets $360 Apple target on AI innovation and 690M upgrade opportunity

Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring has maintained an overweight rating on Apple with a $360 price target, citing accelerated innovation at the company's September product event. The analyst highlighted Apple's first foldable iPhone, new A20 chips, and enhanced Siri capabilities as signs of stronger momentum under new CEO John Ternus, who recently replaced Tim Cook. Woodring noted that 57% of Apple's installed base—roughly 690 million devices—runs phones older than the iPhone 15 Pro, whilst 87% cannot handle complex Siri AI workloads. With consumers keeping iPhones for over four years, this creates significant upgrade potential. Apple recently reported strong fiscal third-quarter results with revenue of $109.4 billion, up 16% year-over-year, and earnings per share of $2.02, up 29%.

Bank of America cuts Apple price target to $370 after iPhone Duo foldable launch

Bank of America cut its Apple price target to $370 from $380 whilst maintaining a Buy rating, following the iPhone Duo launch under new CEO John Ternus. Analyst Wamsi Mohan cited lower-than-expected iPhone pricing pressuring gross margins amid elevated component costs. The iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable phone, features a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer display, both supporting Dynamic Island and 120Hz ProMotion. Starting at $1,999, it launches 23 October with pre-orders opening 16 October. Mohan called the foldable the event's standout, noting its potential to reach mainstream audiences through features like dual capture in FaceTime. Citi described it as Apple's biggest new hardware category since the Watch and AirPods.

Apple Watch can record 15 seconds of conversation without both speakers' consent

Apple's new Watch Series 12 features Audio Intelligence capabilities that can record conversations without consent from all parties. The Live Rewind function captures 15 seconds of conversation and converts it to text after the wearer double-presses the Digital Crown. Whilst the watch emits an audible tone to alert nearby people, this doesn't constitute legal consent in 11 US states requiring all-party consent for recordings. The watch processes audio through its S11 chip and nearby iPhone, discarding the original recording after creating text. Siri Recap summarises conversations throughout the day without retaining audio or identifying speakers. The Electronic Frontier Foundation criticised the feature, arguing people lack practical means to consent or decline recording. EFF's Adam Schwartz warned the technology threatens conversational privacy and spontaneity, urging users to reconsider using it out of respect for others.

AT&T CEO dismisses $2K Apple iPhone Duo as 'not new', doubts foldable will break niche status

AT&T CEO John Stankey expressed scepticism about Apple's newly unveiled foldable iPhone Duo, priced at $1,999. Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia and Technology Conference, Stankey said the device is "not new", noting that Android manufacturers like Samsung and Google have sold foldables for years without broad market success. "What we've seen is that it tends to function more as a specific niche type application as opposed to [being] broadly accepted," Stankey said. He acknowledged Apple could prove him wrong but doubted it would change market dynamics significantly. IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo estimates foldables represent only about 2.2% of global smartphone sales in 2026. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 retails for $1,899.

Apple's foldable iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, but will shoppers actually buy it?

Apple unveiled its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, priced from $1,999 to $3,199. The device features a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer screen, allowing users to run two apps simultaneously. The Duo costs $800 more than Apple's new iPhone 18 Pro. CEO John Ternus called it "the most transformational change to iPhone since the original". Whilst Samsung, Huawei, Google, and Motorola already sell foldables, these devices remain niche. IDC expects global foldable shipments to reach 22.9 million units in 2026, representing just over 2% of the smartphone market. However, analysts believe Apple's entry could shift the landscape. IDC forecasts Apple will ship over 17 million foldable iPhones by 2027, capturing roughly 40% of the global foldables market. The company's large customer base may drive broader adoption of the expensive new format.
