Requirements
  • A Master's or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, with at least three years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience with optical module or lidar assembly.
  • Experience or knowledge of optical sensors, optical device packaging processes, or optical module assembly processes.
  • Experience integrating assembly processes, designing process flows, and performing continuous process improvement.
  • Expertise in mechanical drawings using SolidWorks, mechanical simulation, and thermal simulation.

  • Experience working with foundries, outsourced semiconductor assembly and test providers, assembly houses, printed circuit board assembly fabrication, and contract manufacturers in process development and yield improvement.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and collaborate in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
  • Lead optical engine and system module assembly, including automation and tooling designs, to increase units per hour and yield and reduce cost through customized hardware and software development based on statistical process control and process capability improvement.
  • Support device packaging research and development and new product introduction with mechanical design, drawing, and thermal modeling.
  • Support device testing automation and data-analysis automation scripts or software development and implementation.
  • Work with research and development teams to understand device specifications, particularly mechanical control outlines and assembly requirements, and negotiate among incoming device requirements, mechanical design, and assembly processes using design improvements and experimental data from designed experiments.
  • Work with outsourced semiconductor assembly and test providers to support new product introduction and volume-production contract manufacturing, including technical statement-of-work drafting.
  • Act as the technical project manager for owned projects.
  • Provide design for manufacturability, design for reliability, and design for test inputs to hardware research and development teams for device packaging and assembly.
  • Maintain proper documentation and initiate engineering change notices and process change notices when needed.
  • Develop and track packaging and assembly component specifications and inventory.
  • Audit and regularly visit contract manufacturers and suppliers, then provide reports.
  • Write technical reports and present results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and grow the worldwide operations process team.

  • Experience with failure mode and effects analysis, failure analysis, and 8D reports.

Over the past four years in stealth, its biggest accomplishment hasn't been a single milestone; it's been assembling an exceptional team and doing the hard work required to build a real perception platform for Physical AI. In that time, Lyte AI Inc. has raised over $107M, developed its core product, earned design wins with leading Physical AI companies, and were recognized at CES 2026 with Best of Innovation in Robotics and as an Honoree in Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility. Those outcomes matter, but they're a byproduct of the work, not the goal. Lyte started in 2021, when its founding team - coming out of Apple - kept seeing the same pattern across robotics companies.
