I've tried lots of beauty advent calendars, but this e.l.f. one is on my list of favourites.

I've tried lots of beauty advent calendars, but this e.l.f. one is on my list of favourites. Lifestyle Writer Published 19th Oct 2026, 16:59 BST This article contains affiliate links. We may earn a small commission on items purchased through this article, but that does not affect our editorial judgement. I've tried plenty of beauty advent calendars, and e.l.f.'s 2026 offering looks like a great deal. I've tried a lot of beauty advent calendars over the years, and while some look impressive on the outside, the contents don't always justify the price. That's why e.l.f.'s new Express Your e.l.f. 24-Day Beauty Advent Calendar 2026 £92 (worth £159) looks like a great deal for anyone who loves trying new products. Rather than filling the calendar with lots of tiny samples, e.l.f. has included 18 full-size products, alongside two advent-calendar exclusives that you won't be able to buy anywhere else. The 24-day countdown features a mix of the brand's much-loved beauty staples and newer launches, covering everything from festive makeup to skincare and professional-style tools. For me, the full-size products are a big part of the appeal. Beauty advent calendars can be an expensive treat, so getting products you can actually use beyond a couple of applications makes a difference. This one worth is definitely worth considering if you're already a fan of the beauty brand. It's not just about what's inside, either. The Express Your e.l.f. calendar is designed to be decorated and personalised, turning the countdown to Christmas into a little creative project. You can colour it in, add your own designs and share your finished masterpiece with the e.l.f. community. The brand will also be showcasing some favourite designs throughout the festive season. If you're new to the brand, it could be a good way to try a range of its makeup and skincare without buying everything individually. And if you're already a fan, the combination of familiar favourites, new launches and exclusive products makes it particularly tempting. While it's not included in the advent calendar, there's another e.l.f. product worth a mention: the e.l.f. SKIN Save Your e.l.f. Hypochlorous Mist, which is part of the brand's Project Soothe focus on hypochlorous acid education and skincare for stressed or sensitive skin. Hypochlorous acid has been attracting attention in skincare, particularly among people looking for ways to care for their skin during the cold winter months. AI concept for Hunter boots with Rhode lip gloss holder sparks demand.

AI concept for Hunter boots with Rhode lip gloss holder sparks demand. When AI studio Clauré Studio shared a concept of Hunter boots featuring a holder for Rhode lip gloss this week, consumer inquiries revealed immediate interest in buying the fictional item. Retail brand strategist Bethany Paris Ramsay and Triptk strategy director Frankie Margotta noted that while AI mockups show what shoppers want, social media buzz is no guarantee of sales and can create expectations real manufacturing struggles to meet. The trend mirrors past viral beauty experiments, such as Colourpop Cosmetics teasing a pickle-flavored lip balm in 2025 before rivals released real versions in 2026, proving that digital interest can occasionally highlight commercial opportunities. Separating social signals from factory orders. Online traction offers brands an unprompted window into shopper tastes, yet social media metrics do not reflect commercial demand. Liking an image costs nothing, whereas tooling a factory line requires significant capital commitments and minimum order volumes. A flood of comments asking where to buy an item indicates brand affinity, but it does not guarantee customer follow-through at checkout. Retailers that mistake digital commentary for verified intent risk overproducing niche merchandise that fails on store shelves. Physical manufacturing imposes hard limits that synthetic imaging tools bypass. Generative models routinely display smooth material joins, impossible structural tolerances or incompatible chemical formulations that real factories cannot replicate at scale. The cost of falling short on physical execution. When physical products fail to match elaborate digital fantasies, customer sentiment quickly turns negative. Disappointment emerged when the official Swatch and Audemars Piguet Royal Pop collaboration debuted, with consumers comparing the final retail models unfavorably against synthetic renders circulating online. Such misalignments erode brand credibility. Shoppers who discover an appealing product image is entirely fictional may disengage from future marketing campaigns altogether. "Generative AI can visualise almost anything, including products that can't actually be manufactured as represented," Margotta warned. Clear communication policies are becoming necessary for commercial teams. Brands that comment on or lean into viral fan renders must evaluate whether an engineering path exists before teasing a commercial drop. Turning novelty into commercial releases. Translating viral concepts into verified physical runs has precedent in the cosmetics and personal care sector. Makeup label Colourpop Cosmetics ran an April Fools' Day campaign in 2025 teasing a dill pickle lip balm, which gathered enough sustained interest to push rival brands ELF Cosmetics and Burt's Bees into launching real limited-edition versions in 2026. Rhode previously demonstrated the commercial power of functional novelty when it built a dedicated lip gloss slot into its branded mobile phone cases. The design generated substantial sales by turning everyday personal accessories into wearable cosmetic carriers. Merchandisers evaluating synthetic concepts must isolate the exact element driving online interest. Commercial value often rests on a specific colorway, an unexpected utility feature or the sheer novelty of combining two distinct product categories. Prototyping takes priority over digital renderings. As synthetic design tools become ubiquitous, rendering speed no longer provides a competitive edge for retail design studios. Basic image generation is now accessible to individual social media accounts and competing merchant brands alike. Market advantage will shift back to rapid prototyping, physical testing and nimble supply chains capable of delivering small test batches. Brands that can contract manufacturers quickly and deliver compliant physical goods will capture value that render creators leave on screen. Retail operators and sourcing teams are now tracking whether third-quarter concept spikes convert into commercial holiday licensing deals before fiscal 2027 budgets close. Questions & answers. Q. What is the main challenge brands face when viral AI concepts generate interest? A. The main challenge is that social media buzz does not guarantee sales, and physical manufacturing struggles to meet expectations set by elaborate digital fantasies. Tooling factory lines requires significant capital and minimum order volumes, unlike liking an image. Q. How did Colourpop Cosmetics' pickle-flavored lip balm concept show commercial potential? Q. What was the issue with the Swatch and Audemars Piguet Royal Pop collaboration? Q. What strategy is now becoming crucial for brands to capture value from viral concepts? E.l.f. Cosmetics launches virtual styling experience on ZEPETO.

E.l.f. Cosmetics launches virtual styling experience on ZEPETO. E.l.f. Cosmetics has partnered with avatar platform ZEPETO to let users style its makeup range on their digital avatars, marking the brand's first virtual styling experience. What happened. E.l.f. Cosmetics has partnered with ZEPETO, the avatar-based social and virtual-world platform, to launch what the brand describes as its first virtual styling experience. The collaboration brings e.l.f.'s makeup range into ZEPETO's digital environment, allowing users to style and experiment with the brand's products on their avatars. Details of the rollout remain limited, but the move positions e.l.f. among a growing number of beauty brands extending their product experience beyond physical and e-commerce retail into avatar-based social platforms, where younger, digitally native consumers increasingly spend time and form brand associations. Why it matters. For beauty and other consumer brands, virtual styling tools signal a shift in where product discovery and experimentation now happen. Letting consumers try looks on an avatar rather than only via in-store testers or augmented-reality try-on apps on their own face extends the brand's reach into social, identity-driven spaces where self-expression - not just purchase intent - is the primary motivation. This also reflects a broader direction in digital transformation for consumer brands: treating avatar platforms and virtual worlds as legitimate, if still early-stage, channels for engagement, not just marketing gimmicks. The success of such initiatives will hinge less on the novelty of "being in the metaverse" and more on whether the virtual experience genuinely informs real-world purchase decisions or builds lasting brand affinity. The renascence take. Virtual try-on and avatar styling are often framed as innovation theatre, but the real test is behavioral: does the experience change how a customer feels about the brand once they close the app? Most coverage of brand-metaverse tie-ups focuses on the novelty, but the service-design question is whether the virtual interaction reduces friction or risk in a real purchase decision - letting someone "feel" a look before committing, rather than simply existing as a digital billboard. Brands that treat these platforms as genuine extensions of the customer journey, with a clear path back to product discovery or purchase, will outperform those using them purely for visibility. E.l.f. has built a reputation on fast-follow, culturally fluent marketing; the operators to watch will be those who can show this translates into measurable engagement or conversion, not just media coverage of the launch itself.
