International Client and Risk Manager / Facultative Underwriter Property & Engineering
About the job
- A successfully completed university or university of applied sciences degree, preferably in business administration or economics with a focus on insurance or reinsurance.
- Current relevant professional experience in underwriting at a reinsurer or primary insurer; broker experience is a plus.
- Sound knowledge of reinsurance business analysis.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly very strong Excel skills.
- Very good written and spoken English; additional language skills are welcome.
- Strong negotiation skills and confidence using different communication and negotiation techniques.
- Experience organizing and preparing customer visits, including follow-up.
- Communication skills, decisiveness, execution strength, and confidence presenting at all organizational levels.
- Intercultural competence, enthusiasm for direct customer consulting, ambition, empathy, and teamwork.
- Willingness to undertake international business travel.
- Acquire and support existing customers and strategically build new customer relationships in an international context.
- Independently prepare market and cedent analyses and continuously monitor developments in the primary and reinsurance markets.
- Analyze incoming facultative reinsurance offers in property and engineering from a risk perspective and make well-founded underwriting decisions.
- Ensure earnings-oriented underwriting and manage the reinsurance portfolio within delegated authority.
- Represent R+V Re professionally in assigned markets and toward cedents and brokers, and participate in conferences and marketing events.
- Conduct international negotiations with customers and brokers confidently and purposefully.
- Support contract underwriting with expertise, including special acceptances.
- Actively and reliably coordinate with internal interfaces such as Legal and Claims, Actuarial, and Accounting.
- Identify employees' information needs and prepare and present subject-matter presentations.
- Broker experience is a plus.
- Additional language skills are welcome.
