- A Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree is required to maintain Osteopathic recognition for the program.
- Completion of an accredited Family Medicine program.
- Board certification or true board eligibility in Family Medicine.

- An unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
- Five years of teaching experience and experience in graduate medical education administration.
